    Search questions

I have not bought this product yet. I have two questions.
After installing VBSEO, does that mean everything my members post will be all over
    google for everyone to read?

Would I have to keep my content visible to non registered members? I was planning on going registered members only soon. I have no clues how the robots work.

Im also not sure how my members would feel about someone searching their name and seeing a ton of posts from my forum and what they said. Does this make sense and is this how this program works?

    Thanks

Yes - content (posts) generated by your users will get indexed in Google and other search engines if your forums are open to guests.

Content provided for registered members who must login to view it will not be indexed and you will gain no benefit from search engine traffic. If you are planning on doing this, I suggest you keep some information available for guests & premium content for registered members only.

This is generally how forums work. However, if there is a privacy concern for your particular type of forum, then you may need to keep things private and miss out on the search engine traffic that can be achieved with publically available content.

    Hi MMiller,

as Joe suggested, it might be a good idea to seperate your forums into two main sections- public and private.
Keep the general discussion area open to the public, but have your sensitive information behind registered user doors only.

alternativitely, there is a modification available to make googlebot appear as a member.
Member Bots 1.0 - Allow bots to act as members - vBulletin.org Forum

Use with caution, however, as this MAY have some negative effects, such as cloaking. It's a fine line with this mod, but I still feel it's iffy.

That will allow google to read everything though, so your privacy issues may be compromised as in that respect.

Basically what you need to decide on is:
Search engine pages and rankings VS. memebers security/confidentiality.
