Ready to Buy - MAKING THE CHANGE to vbSEO from standard vb

    Howdy vbseo guys.

I have a forum I've been running for a few years now and really want to invest in vbSEO because vbulletin is terribly optimized by default. (being a professional SEO myself, it's quite scary LOL)

Anyways, this is an established forum with thousands of members and we're about to hit the 100k posts mark. Well I've got a few questions I'd like clarified before we move forward and buy this thing.

First off, I'm running vb 4.0.7 at the moment. And for my concerns...

1 - Does running vbSEO have any substantial impact on the website's and server's performance themselves?

2 - I have a series of add-ons installed on my forum, I will list them below. Please let me know if you're aware of any conflicts with them and vbSEO, or if you see any potential issues with them:

3 - What kinds of changes and adjustments will I have to make to vbulletin once I purchase and implement vbSEO?

4 - The license does not expire is that correct? It's a one time fee for vbSEO?

5 - My site is already getting tons of traffic from google, do you expect us that we'll see even more traffic once we start using vbSEO even though we're already getting tens of thousands of visits a month from search?

Thanks, looking forward for the reply.

    Hi Adam,

    1. There is some additional load, as vBSEO processes all requests made of your forum, but a properly-configured server shouldn't see any problems. I run 9 vBSEO-enabled forums on my server and rarely see the load go over 1.

    2. Nope, not aware of any problems with those mods. If there are, we can help resolve them anyway.

    3. No changes to vB are required other than importing the product and uploading the vbseo files.

    4. Correct. 1-time fee entitles you to run 1 instance of vBSEO on 1 domain. Updates and support lasts 1 year, after which you can renew if you like.

    5. That would be the expectation. You would generally see a dip in traffic as the new URLs are found and indexed, but the idea is definitely to increase traffic.

Thanks for the reply, I have another question.

I have alot of inbound links coming to my forum from various places, what's going to happen to these links once vbseo changes the URL structure of the site?? Will these old URLs automatically redirect to the correct ones?

For example if someone put a link to my forum on their site a year ago, will that link still work correctly after vbseo has been installed and the URLs rewritten?

    Yes.

The old URLs are also 301 (moved permanently) redirected, so Google et al will change their index to refer to the new location.
