posting here sinc forum won;t let me post in rewrite rules

even though I am the register owner this forum is screwy in terms of how it tracks registered owners.

I can download the update I just purchased using this login but I can't post in rewrite rules.

In any event - in spite of the shortcomings of the implementation of this forum and tracking of registered users I just upgraded from VBseo 3.0 to VBseo 3.6 anow now none of my links work.

    isn't this peachy!

old rules that worked great under 3.0

    # to disable mod_rewrite functions.
    # Please note: you still need to disable the hack in
    # the vBSEO control panel to stop url rewrites.
    RewriteEngine On

    # Some servers require the Rewritebase directive to be
    # enabled (remove '#' at the beginning to activate)
    # Please note: when enabled, you must include the path
    # to your root vB folder (i.e. RewriteBase /forums)

    RewriteBase /forums/
    RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} (admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !vbseourl=
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !chat
    RewriteRule ^(.*\.php)$ vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

    RewriteRule ^(archive/.*)$ vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.+)$ vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

new rules that do not work under 3.6 (based of sample supplied in 3.6 distribution
