Arrow Is it possible for members...

    Hi there,

I came across this website a while ago from vbulletin.org. I'm interested in purchasing this system because of it's url options for each members profile page.

I notice that at vbseo.com, that my profile's page url is http://www.vbseo.com/members/sean/

is it possible to make it look like this using vbseo,
    http://www.vbseo.com/sean/

where I don't have to add the folder /members/?

Also one more thing, I remember that several mods were released at vbulletin.org that did something like this using mod rewrite, however, the problem with them was that if a member had special characters, ., or spaces in their username, their profile pages didn't show up. Would this be a problem with vbSEO? you can see the thread here http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showt...4&page=3&pp=15

Also another problem that they faced was that after installing that mod, they had to change all their links for everything else. For example if in one of their pages they had a link to their gallery, http://www.site.com/gallery, they had to add a "/" at the end for that page to work.

I have a lot of automated links at my website and if that's the case, that means I have to change many of the links.

I would appericiate it if someone could explain these to me so that I can see if vbSEO is right for me or not,

    thank you.

Hi Sean and welcome to the forums,

Yes, you can adjust the members URL format (or any URL format) to display these in root. However, we have "defaulted" them to /members/ to provide a logical structure to the site and to prevent the (possible) issue of having a thread (or a forum) named as a user.

Example: If a user was named sean-1001 and your thread URLs had the format [thread_title]-[thread_id], vBSEO wouldn't know if sean-1001 is a thread or a user. To prevent this, add a distinctive element such as the forum name or the forum id (or both) to your thread format.

Also one more thing, I remember that several mods were released at vbulletin.org that did something like this using mod rewrite, however, the problem with them was that if a member had special characters, ., or spaces in their username, their profile pages didn't show up. None of these issues will appear with vBSEO. They have been corrected through many development iterations and testing

Thank-you for asking such great questions,
    Juan
