Permission based areas and SE spiders... ?

If I set up a certain section of my discussion board for certain members only, can vBSEO allow the spiders in to spider these sections?

I know of a membership software that does this.. Gets posts into the engines, but when you click on them, you have to be a registered member.

MemberGate Content Publisher and Subscription Site Manager <-- The software I referenced above. It's for managing a membership type site, but has some of their discussions in the search engines... click on the link, "blamo" you have to be a member.

Anyway... I know this can be done, IP address of a spider can be let in, etc.

    I think I got my question/point across.

    Thanks,
    Troy

Showing content to spiders that is not shown to guests is considered "Black Hat SEO", and can get you sandboxed by search engines. Not to mention, your "private" content would then be visible by viewing the search engine's cached copy of the page anyway....

    Hmm... black hat SEO.

I've seen this with other sites too, not just the one I mentioned.

    Thanks,
    Troy
