    nofollow member pages

Hi, I don't see a value for member pages to be indexed in SE's (but hey, if you see a value in that, please let me know). My focus is to have 'money pages' (threads) indexed.

With that, is there anyway to nofollow and do noindex on member pages, in the VBSEO config?

    Thanks, steve

The best way to handle member profile pages, if you do not want them indexed, is to block them via robots.txt.

But we also include these options:
Add rel="nofollow" to Links pointing TO Member Profiles FROM Postbit
Enable this option to prevent search engines from following links to member profiles found in posts.

Add rel="nofollow" to Links pointing TO Member Profiles FROM Forumhome
Enable this option to prevent search engines from following links to member profiles found in your Forum Homepage

Personally I believe the best way to block member profiles from being indexed is to block access to them for guests through vbcp.

hi joe, can you tell me what to put in my robot.txt file to block member profiles from being indexed? My member profiles show no follow but it still gets indexed by the bots.

Depends on how your member profile pages are rewritten.

I have mine set as domain-name/members/[username].html
So, to block all the member profiles, I can use this piece of code in robots.txt :

    Code:
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /members/
If you have vB installed in a directory (eg. forum/) you should use this line instead :

    Code:
    Disallow: /forum/members/
