Angry No response from vbseo support ... not so good :-/

    Hi there,

I'm writing my third email today regarding my vbSeo license. 1,5 years ago I bought vbSeo here on the site. I switched to a new domain & new forum and now I want to switch my license to this new domain, too. I've asked vbSeo support for a new license key and I'm waiting for a reply for days now. I'm not able to login to the support ticket system anymore and the support team did not reply to any of my emails, yet.

Please can somebody update me on what's going on there?! I bought a product that I can't use at all at the moment ...

    Thanks for any help!

You need to renew your license ($35 USD for 1 year), to be able to change your license's domain name.

    Renew vBSEO

Correct, your license needs to be updated/active in order to process a domain change request.

Oh, but this only applies to 3rd party transfers. Actually from the EULA I can have the license transfered to another domain of mine without having to renew my license!!!

    "VBSEO LICENSE SALE AND/OR TRANSFER
Crawlability Inc. allows vBSEO customers to update their forum URL, or to change from one URL to another, provided the new location is "owned by the same customer", and is NOT being transferred to another party for sale, or for any other purpose"

Exactly what I need!!! Plus it does make sense because I've bought a script which I'd like to use then, too. Even if I bought it 1,5 years ago.

Can I expect any help from the support team???

    Hi Kevin,

Sorry, but the other posters are 100% correct.

In order for a license to be transferred to another domain (not just another person), the license must be active.

For reference. From here: Transfer Policy: Buying or Selling a vBSEO License

SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS FOR VBSEO DOMAIN CHANGES

    • Customers are permitted to change their vBSEO license to a new domain.
    • However, this can be done only 1 time within a 90 DAY period.
    • The vBSEO license must be UN-EXPIRED.

I've never ever seen the Transfer Policy: Buying or Selling a vBSEO License before. It is not mentioned on the sales page and it is contradictory to the EULA which I have accepted when I made my purchase. Beside that fact, it does not make sense to me to NOT help me and simply generate a new license code while I can prove the purchase of the script which can be done in less time. How can we solve this problem?

    Thanks for your help!

From the license agreement I did accept on my purchase:

    VBSEO LICENSE SALE AND/OR TRANSFER

Crawlability Inc. allows vBSEO customers to update their forum URL, or to change from one URL to another, provided the new location is "owned by the same customer", and is NOT being transferred to another party for sale, or for any other purpose.

Special restrictions apply to transfers between vBSEO customers and a 3rd party during a sale of the license, or a transfer for any other purpose.

SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS FOR VBSEO LICENSE TRANSFERS TO 3RD PARTIES

Crawlability Inc. may, upon request, allow vBSEO customers to transfer an active vBSEO license to a 3rd party, if the following conditions are met:
    • The vBSEO license must NOT have been transferred in the previous 12 month period
    • The vBSEO license must have been active for a period of at least 3 months from the date of purchase
    • The vBSEO license must be UN-EXPIRED. Note: If expired, the license must be renewed prior to authorization of the transfer.
This policy applies to license transfers for both transfers in which (a) the forum URL changes, and (b) the forum URL does NOT change (i.e. full forum sales).

    Kevin,

From the EULA, you have quoted, with the relevant portion that covers this in bold:

Special restrictions apply to transfers between vBSEO customers and a 3rd party during a sale of the license, or a transfer for any other purpose.
*edit to add* The remainder is covered in Keith's quote, from the official policy he has linked.

But then there are no "special restrictions" listed anywhere. The only "special restrictions" I can see are "SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS FOR VBSEO LICENSE TRANSFERS TO 3RD PARTIES" ... I'm not going to transfer my license to 3rd parties ...

See Ace's reply above. It states "or a transfer for any other purpose. " Just because all restrictions are not explicitly outlined does not mean they do not exist.

We require a support ticket be opened in order to transfer the license to a new domain, and in order to access the ticket system, we require that you have an active license.

We do not require license holders to renew their license every year. They only need to do so if they wish to receive official support, download updates, or (as in your case) transfer the license to a different site.

We cannot make an exception for one site. You may not like it, or agree with it, but this is our policy.

Hi Kevin - sorry for any confusion with our terms. However, renewal is required prior to a license update for any reason.
