Question New Year, new direction, need some answers

Can't believe my last post was back in 2007 :O

Well I am back and good to be back!

I am planning to upgrade VB to 4.0 in the new year maybe after they release for the 2nd time late january, anyways. I just checked on my site that I have vBSEO 3.1 installed. I wish to get the 3.5 version at the same time I upgrade to VB4.0. Since I've never tested 4.0, please answer the following questions:

Is the new URL re-write system in VB4.0 OPTIONAL?
If yes, will vBSEO automatically take over like all previous upgrades and keep the SAME URLS?
If not, then how to go about keeping vbSEO URLS?
Do I install vbSEO 3.5 on my current setup (vb3.8.4) before upgrading to 4.0?

Also I am not sure about the membership here, am I still able to download updates for vbseo?
I see Renew and Purchase, do I purchase to get 3.5? It's not very clear to me....

    thanks

    Welcome back

vb's urls can (and must) be turned off (set to Standard URLs) to use vbseo.
    yes
    n/a
I suggest removing vbseo 3.1 (and all old leacy plugins from your 3.8 iunstall) and then upgrade to vb4 first, then install vbseo 3.5 once you have a working vb4 set up.

A renewal is all that is required to access updates, including 3.5 RC's.

    Thanks for the response.

If I do remove the vbSEO 3.1, wouldn't the URLs revert to the standard vbulletin url style?

edit: I found the downloads section, don't know how I missed the link on top! hehe, before I was looking at this page: https://www.vbseo.com/purchase/buy-vbseo.html

    thanks!

Yes, your urls will revert. Obviously, this must be done as quick as possible (with the board turned off). But, most vb3 plugsin including vbseo will not work with vb4 and must be disabled first.
