    . . . My Pre-Sale Questions . . .

    INTERESTED vBSEO CUSTOMER!

    I have question regarding vBSeo, I am looking forward to purchasing vBulletin and vBSeo! But the question I have is that I am totally new to vBulletin and vbseo. I am interested in start a Gaming Forum!

    1) Will vBSeo be hard for me to understand (as in insall, upgrades, etc)?

    2) Is there any additional (monthly/yearly cost) besides $149 that I pay for vBSeo?

    3) As you know I am new to vbulletin and vbseo, will it be hard for me to keep it secure?

    4) If I ask for support after I purchase vBSeo, will I get charged extra?

    5) Will it be effective for me to purchase vBSeo!

    6) What type of things does vBSeo require, depending upon this I can choose appropriate hosting? PHP? PHP5? ionCube? I dunno what i'm talking about lol

    7) Which hosting company do you recommend I go with?

    Offtopic question!

    I'm looking forward in Shared Hosting for now, once I get 300+ members surfing online at once on my forum, i'll switch to VPS or Dedicated.

    8) Which do you prefer, VPS or DEDICATED, if I am planning to have 300+ members surfing at once on the forum, on daily basis!

    9) Is it hard to run VPS/Dedicated? Hard as in security, installing, removing, maintaing, etc.

    Thanks so much for your time! I really do appreciate it.

    Sincerly Yours,

    Garala

    1. vBSEO is a very easy installation. If you can complete the vBulletin install, vBSEO will probably be an even easier install.

    2. There is a $35 fee for access to upgrades annually. This is optional, and is only required for you to get access to our latest versions as well as the priority support ticketing system.

    3. vBSEO has no known security issues. vBulletin also stays on top of issues of security, releasing patches whenever they discover anything that could lead to potential vulnerabilities.

    4. Support is included with your purchase. Access to our priority support ticketing system is for 1 year, but continued access is provided when you renew. Support via our public forums is available to all users, all the time.

    5. If you are looking for a search engine optimization solution for vBulletin, vBSEO is definitely the right choice.

    6. Generally, vBSEO requires that you have vBulletin installed. If you do, then vBSEO will also run on the system. There are 3 other areas that may be required depending on the situation:

    a) ionCube/Zend: Your server should have ionCube or Zend available, or able to be installed. Note: This will not be required for the pending vBSEO 3.1 release.

    b) mod_rewrite: If you are on a Linux based operating system (most are), mod_rewrite will need to be enabled. From our experience 99% of our customers already have this installed when they purchase vBSEO.

    c) ISAPI_rewrite: If you are on a Windows IIS operating system (very few are), instead of mod_rewrite you'll need ISAPI_rewrite installed.

    In most cases, your server will already be fully configured and compatible with vBSEO.

    If not, we'll either work with you to update it, OR we'll give you a full refund.

    7. Please search our forums for other threads on hosting recommendations.

    I'll leave questions 7,8,9 as dicussion points for other vBSEO owners and you. Guys any feedback you can provide on your experience is appreciated.

    just a minor correction to 6 b and c...

    mod_rewrite has nothing to do with linux-- it has to do with Apache.
    you may find systems that run windows with apache, and thus would be able to run mod_rewrite.

    mod_rewrite = Apache
    ISAPI = IIS

    7 - which ever you go with, don't go with one who "owns" your domain (ie, "free domain with any hosting plan") because when it comes time to move, they try to screw you into staying with them because they have control over your .com

    8- a dedicated server usually comes after a VPS, and is usually about 4x the cost. VPS are about 100 a month, where dedicated you are easily looking well into the 3-400 a month range.

    9- i can't possibly answer this. but, like they say, if you have to ask.... lol There are companies that offer VPS or dedicated servers fully managed. and there's also 3rd party solutions like TotalServerSolutions.com which cost about 75 bucks a month on top of your dedicated server somewhere.
