    Lots of questions

    Hi,

vbseo looks like a great product and we have a lot of questions regarding this. Here are a few of them, could you please help us?

    - How does it work? Does the installation overwrites / or needs code changes to standard vbuletin install?

    - What is the added load to the servers

    - Is there a install guide where i can take a look at the installation process? Is there a demo site where i can get some hands on?

    - Are the upgrades free? or do i have to pay a maintenance fee every year?

    - Do i get any support during the first install ? or does that cost extra?

    - Would my forums previous urls (showthread.php?=1212) be invalid after the install ..or would it be a 303 re-direct to the new clean URL?

    - Do you accept payment with paypal?

    Please guide?

    Hello ,

vBSEO installation doesnt require any file edit for vB versions 3.5 and newer ones. There is only one file edit for vB 3.0.x versions.

If your server is overloaded then vBSEO may add a significant load on your server but it is because of mod_rewrite actually. Normally if your server is running smooth vBSEO only adds a small load which can not be noticed on some occasions.

You can check installation instrucions at vBSEO 3.2.0 Readme File and sign up for vBSEO Demo at http://www.vbseo.com/demo/

Once you purchase vBSEO license you can use it for life time but after 1 year period in order to access Support Ticket System and download new versions you must renew your license. Renewal fee is 35$ and you can choose whenever you want to renew.

We fully support our product. You can create a support ticket and ask any problems you faced during installation or after installation and a member of vBSEO Total Support Team will asist you asap. We also have an installation service for non technical users. Details can be found at : vBSEO - Installation Service

All your old urls will be 301 redirected to new format.

We accept both Paypal and 2Checkout payments.

    Thanks Mert,

One more question ..what does the renewal fee mean ? suppose I buy the software this year (2008) in december and do not choose to renew the license in 2009. Can i pay the renewal fee in 2010 to get the latest update?

As Mert stated, renewal is optional. But we do urge all customers to stay up to date with our most recent versions of vBSEO. Of course, you have access to ALL updates we make for one full year.

Then the $35 renewal fee gets you access for an extra year, starting from the date you renew.

So - it's optional, but encouraged IF a new version gets released after you license expires.

the installation seems straightforward ... regarding .htaccess file ... i already have some entries on my forum .htaccess file ...

    - can i just merge the .htaccess file that comes with vbseo?

    - what happens to the links if i plan to uninstall vbseo at a later stage?

    - What happens if two posts in same forum have same subject like
    post1 : "how do I"
    post2 : "how do I"

between i was looking at the demo and am very very impressed ..... with the options it provides

    1. Yes, you can. If needed, you can ask for help here for correctly updating your existing .htaccess file.

    2. If by any chance you would decide to uninstall it, the already indexed rewritten URLs can be 301 redirected back to your respective PHP files (showthread / forumdisplay / member / etc.) depending upon the URL Rewriting format you chose.

    3. In threads and posts, identifying ID's are required in the URLs. Thus even if the 'Title' is same, the ThreadID / PostID WILL be different, and there would be no conflicts.

suppose I change the title of a thread .... would the URL to the thread also get changed ? or will it remain the same ?

    Edit: I found the answer.

For the benefit of others ready this thread, the answer is "yes". The thread URL would get updated. Then vBSEO automatically redirects any traffic from the old URL to the new version (after the title change).

    Code:
    <span style="blah">Forum Name:</span>My forum
would this cause any problems ?

    I haven't tested such a thing myself; but in case it doesn't work as expected for those special forums;
you can manually define URLs for those specific forums / sub-forums in the vbseo's config file.
