    Looking for suggestions/help

    Hello,

I am planning to use vbSEO on at least one of my forums after it gets upgraded from 3.6 to 3.8 later this month. I've got a couple of problems and concerns though.

Right now I use Zoints SEO, but since it's not supported anymore and doesn't work to 100% in 3.8 I plan to get rid of it. The problem is how to best prevent losing all search engine links. Is there some kind of converter available? I don't know what the best solution for this would be so any tips would be appreciated.

I also wonder how much of a resource hog vbSEO is, compared to Zoints? Hate to get nasty surprises with the server load.

    Thanks!

You can create rules to direct your zionts urls to your new urls... or you can set up vbseo to use the same urls that you have currently set up with zoints.

Having never run zoints, i can't comment on load... but i saw about .2 in load increase from vbseo off to on during PEAK times. but, that was 4 servers ago more traffic has forced me to upgrade

Daniel, I used Zoints and saw absolutely no difference in load after switching to vBSEO. I saw no negative impact, whatsoever, in making the switch.

Once you make the vBSEO purchase, open a support ticket and explain your situation and you'll get some .htaccess rules that will make the changeover from Zoints to vBSEO completely seamless.

And then hang onto your hat, because there is really no comparison between the two packages. You will be amazed at how your traffic will improve, trust me.

Brian, I don't know about you, but I saw a .2 load increase when I upgraded from vB 3.6.X to 3.7.0. I think people want to blame load increases on the wrong culprit.

So it's really possible to set up access rules that redirects all old Zoint urls?

If you were using an ID based forum, these can be setup with custom htaccess redirects to send your old Zoints formats to your new maxed out vBSEO formats.

sure. after you order, open a ticket requesting some rules. You will need to provide your old(current) url style.

SOME pages may not be able to be redirected if you didn't include the id in them, such as /members/bob/. but, if you have /members/bob-123/ then it can too.

Alright thanks...member pages are not even changed at all right now, only threads and forums, and they've got the ID in the URL like -f103 or -t33127
