    impex, vbseo before or after?

i am wanting to bring alot of content over from 1 forum which im sure is running some form of vbseo that i installed a couple of years ago and bring parts of the info over using impex (im told) still cant find inf on this. Would i want to install vbseo before or after this process? or it doesnt matter?

i am also looking for someone to aid in this transition, if you can make any suggestions where to find a developer or someone to help would appreciate it

    thanks

The transition via Impex is easy I have done it numerous times and it takes minutes! If I was merging one forum into another, I would remove ALL mods from the board that will not exist anymore and disable the ones on the main forum until I had finished, just to be on the safe side.

With this situation, you would install vBSEO afterwards.

However, please be aware that it is going to require the search engines to re-index you, as their is no simple solution available to map your old URL format to the new after an IMPEX transfer.

can i just do a custom 404 redirect on the old domain sending all incomings to the new domain? sure this wont last long but it will capture some stuff?

or is there a better way of doing it?

where can i read up about impex?

    thanks

Actually - that may work. What URL format do you have in place. Any idea? A custom solution perhaps.

    The URL you provided is:

    vBindex v3.0.0 RC5 - vBulletin.org Forum

That is a 3.0.x version though.

Might also want to look at:

he asked me what sort of seo solution is in place on my forum, i asked can i post a link so can look, so i posted the link, its to the vbindex which is just the gateway to the forum with the current seo solution in place. Would like to know if i can do any custom redirects if i transfer the full forum, or parts of it to my new forum where vbseo will be installed, im also trying to find someone to help me to sort the whole mess out

    thanks for the response
