It all depends on what you had set up using tfseo. If you can create the same url structure, you will be fine.
if you change it, you will undergo a complete re-index process.

In what format are your URLs (forumdisplay, showthread, etc.) currently ?

If you have Forum ID's and Thread ID's in your URL formats,
then it would be easy to redirect these old rewritten URLs to the new vBSEO URLs.

And yes, if the URL format changes,
then Google and other SEs would need to re-index your pages.

edit: oops... didn't see Brian already replied. :P

Thanks Brian and Shadab.

Actually it does have forum id and thread ids in url, but I guess the format will change.

Please have a look at Webmaster Forum - SEO & Internet Marketing Forum - A Webmaster Community for better Web - Powered by vBulletin

Also since I have installed TfSEO only a month back and has already gone through some kind of re indexing..I guess it won't be a bad idea to install vBSEO. Not much to lose. What do you guys suggest?

Please advise.

just pulled up some stats..
site:webmastersheart.com - Google Search

you used a pretty bad url structure IMO.

I would re-start using the settings offered in my ultimate guide (link in sig).

Then, you can set up some custom redirects to direct your old content.
