    I am sold on vbseo...but

before I buy however I need to find a rock solid php host that works well with vbseo, cheap wrt storage/bandwidth, no additional cost for mySQL and size part of storage limit, targeting india, so resonably fast in India and USA.

    I have looked at
    lunarpages.com
    valueweb.net
    superb.net

any real suggestions with ratings and scalability wrt vbseo welcome.

    Thx in advance!

how big/active is your site? that's a huge factor in determining a proper host.

or let me ask this way... about the same user base / postings as as cobraclub.com fourms

I am on a dedicated server, 4Gb ram and a load of processors.

    DB size is about 300Mb.

Thats one of my smaller sites, I am migrating an old forum setup this weekend to VB and VBseo which has abour 11,000 users and about 1.2 million posts, so I will let you know how that goes.

Just for information, I moved from Lunarpages to Liquidweb, and to be honest the server build and support at Lunarpages was atrocious.

There were multiple hardware issues, and multiple kernel build issues, it took me ages to get them all sorted but it was never right. Liquidweb have been fabulous to date.

Thanks for the info. What are your thoughts on the following hosts:
    1. ThePlanet.com
    2. Superb.net (I like the 1hop and network)

Also what is the minimum require dedicated server config to run something like cobraclub?

    TIA.

I had a quote from theplanet.com but something didn't seem right with the responses I got back, nothing concrete just a gut feel.

Never used or come across superb.

The minimum spec for a dedicated is the best you can afford, the issue is you may get hit for additional set-up charges if you have to move servers.

I used to run a whole bunch of sites on a single core single-processor setup with 2gb of ram but I did do a LOT of optimisation of php and mysql, if you can afford a single core multi-processor and 4Gb ram then go for it.

Its the old adage of a fifty pence part breaking a £10,000 engine.
