not sure... i don't have any specific trackers on those pages.

i do have an adsense channel on tag pages though, and it does give me about 100 ad impressions a day on that channel, which means they are getting used about .1% of my total page view and do convert some revenue.

for a free mod, i'd say its def worth it.

it also comes in handy for doing quick searches, especially on 3-letter words, where full-text won't let you search on.

I had quite a few honda's in my day. None of their new cars remotely appeal to me any more. Still a great car for those NOT using vbseo :P

I was making $1500+ a month from adsense when I first starting using vBSEO...I was then banned as my Firearm site does not meet the requirements from Adsense. I was very sad...

I went from $20 a month to that...and was getting ready to quit my job...I'm glad I didn't...but the hits and people in getting ads are getting up there.

    Good job!

As always, Read the TOS. Guns, alcohol, tabacco, illegal stuff, and all the rest is clearly in there.

    Yes, that's me.

There's no "way" to do this. There's 1000's of methods to making money off the net, and i couldn't remotely possibly begin to describe them to you.

IMO, it all boils down to this:
To make money, you need ads. to get ad revenue, you need traffic. to get traffic, you need content. to get content you need members. to get members, you have to offer something unique that makes them want to sign up on your site over the other guy. to get that idea, is the key to success.

When i started by forum in 2001, there were 5 other major competitors on the market. honda-tech.com, superhonda.com, honda-acura.net, clubsi.com, and i don't remember the rest.
All of those offered general interest in hondas and while some hit on model-level interests, they didn't go after nor had organized, reliable information about engine swapping. At the time, it was just coming out. Very few kids had the money or knowledge to pull it off. I started doing research for my own swap, and put together everything i found, all in one organized reference section. As time went on, other people found this information useful.

    Insert exponential function here

If you're looking to get rich overnight, throw in the towel now.

I remember the time when i got excited that i made $3 on one day.
when it broke $10, i tried to do a back flip and nearly killed myself
the first day it broke $20, i was ready to quit my job, and then realized that people below the poverty level make more than 20 bucks a day.

Even at 100/day, you're only at a modest 40k a year salary level.

Some people may say that's a lot of money, but the reality of it, is that is barely hitting the entry into middle class (at least where I'm from). You won't own a house on 40k a year living alone. you'll be forced to rent, and drive a POS car, not have many nice things, and probably live constantly paycheck to paycheck.

The true trick, is to get together a network of sites.

3 or 4 popular forums, a couple blogs, and some affiliate sites, and you're on your way to 200k a year

But, that requires a LOT of hard work, and a LOT of your time.
Working 100hrs a week for 200k VS 40 hours a week for 80k, it all comes down to the same time/$ ratio.

If you don't have time to enjoy your money, what's the point of even having it?

I work full-time on top of my personal endeavors to make ends meet. While I do get to enjoy some of the finer things, such as the car in this case, i'm still a FAR cry from being "rich". Even more so, there's a huge difference between being rich, and being wealthy.

it's not how much you make, its how much you spend. As always, things take time to grow, be it your assets, or your members on your forum.

Most importantly, money isn't everything. And i've learned this the hard way i'm afraid.

For those of you who have seen the Adam Sandler movie "Click", i'm a lot like this guy. I skiped so many family events to work on stuff, or overslept through something because i was up till 6am coding all night, or whatever.
Now that i'm older, i look back, and realize that I've missed out on a lot of things. simple things.... like my niece's 1st birthday that i showed up to 5 hours late, with no gift other than a check.
sure, cash is great, but its heartless, and the 1 yr old doesn't give a $hit about it. she'd much rather open up a nice toy of some sort, start hitting away on the buttons, making noises, and laughing and sharing the joy she can bring to the whole family. I've never been much of a family guy, always the 'outcast' of the family i guess you could say.... but now as i get older, i realize that even though i've been largely successful due to a lot of hard work, and make more than anyone else in my family even though i'm the youngest, i'm completely and entirely miserable. Sometimes i wish i was struggling so i would 'give a shit' about the little things in life that mean so much more. I have 2 1080p tv's in my place. My sister has a 19" tv that barely stays from flickering in and out of color.
She's happy, has a loving family, husband who works his ass off for 1/4 the pay to support them and their 2 beautiful little girls... barely having enough to put food on the table.
I'm miserable, completely alone, but i can watch all the tv i want, indulge in all the sushi and fine wine that i want..... but 99% of the time, I'm eating alone on the couch or at my desk while i work.

The old saying is very true. Money doesn't buy happiness.

Perhaps i've gotten quite a bit off topic... but I wanted to put this out there. It's great for everyone to work hard and have something to show for themselves. But it's another thing altogether to go out and actually live life.
Give back. Not only to your community and family, but to your self. By that, i mean give some money away to do something else besides work.

I think most of us in the IT field can relate to your feelings of overwork Brian. Unfortunately - it's difficult to peel yourself away from the screen when there is work to be done. At this stage it looks like your hard work has begun to pay off. Perhaps you might even consider taking the next step, and hiring the first member of your team. This will give you a partner in crime, and help to free up some of your time for your family.

Brian, I appreciated your post. Sitting on the couch with complete control of the remote is not always enjoyable. To combat the loneliness, my daughters and I agreed to give 10% of all the ad revenue (above expenses) to a local charity. The other day, while celebrating a $300 day in revenue on one of the sites, we went to dinner and gave the food server a $60 tip. We also donated to cancer research.
