    How Can You Tell?

Our site is just over a year old, it doesn't have vBSEO, but it does have PR6 and 155,000 indexed pages on google. after having a 1000 unique hits a day for the past 8 months, yesterday the traffic doubled overnight, today it looks like it's doubling again.

So despite not doing anything in particular, our traffic is going through the roof. If I'd bought vBSEO, I'd have said it was vBSEO that was giving us the great results, but obviously it's not.

So I was wondering, how can you tell that it's vBSEO that's increasing your traffic? Is it possible to prove that vBSEO works and that it is directly responsible for substantially increased traffic?

Whilst I don't like the idea of the branding or encryption, I'm still playing with the idea of giving it a go, but I could really do with having clearer stats that it's vBSEO and nothing else that really makes all the difference. Is there some sort of prediction/guarantee that our traffic will increase by x% within x days of installation?

    cheers

    Anyone?

I've just tried to register for Google analytics, but they're not taking any new registrations and I already use opentracker and webalizer, but can't see anyway of being able to tell if increased traffic would be directly attributable to vBSEO or not.

Is there something in the software that shows the improvements?

The way I did it was to note the jump in indexed pages after VBSEO and then to observe that the number of people coming in from search engines dramatically increased.

Here's the graph of my Google referrals from the time I started using vbSEO and vbSEO Sitemap:

So there isn't anything in vBSEO that actually shows that it directly increases traffic?

For $150, I'd assumed that the software would be able to track increases in traffic that could be directly attributed to vBSEO. I've just noticed that the advertising info just gives 'should expect' increases in performance, but as the software has been out for quite a while now I was hoping that it could be a bit more concrete in the ability to produce results.

I'm currently using IBP to optimise pages and, every time I make the suggested adjustments to a page, it increases ranking in the SEs - do it to another page and it happens to that one as well, and so on.

Is it possible to apply vBSEO to part of the forum, i.e. just some categories, to see what sort of increases it makes in performance to the threads within, by comparison to the rest of the site?

The only way I know to track increases in traffic is to show where the traffic comes from.

And, given that vbseo is making your pages more visible to the external sources that point users to your pages - in other words search engines - the only tool to show that vbseo is working is to show a larger presense in the engines.

You have your server logs to show the activity of spiders on your site. You have your page rank data for your pages. You have your placement for certain keywords in the search engines.

All of these before and after comparisons will show you if it's working. I know in my one comparison, I had content that was ranked somewhere around 69th on google. It jumped to 7th with no other changes than vbseo.

All we can have is anecdotal evidence because nobody has access to google's data to evaluate the actual total impact of vbseo's changes.
