    General Question

I've been looking at vBulletin as the most likely possibility for what I want to host my new website on, and from their Pre-Sales forums it seems there are a few things I was hoping for that aren't possible. It looks like vbseo might solve some of those problems. Here is my main question:

Can I set users' blogs and other personal features (profiles, albums, etcs) to have a customized subfolder URL? Something like http://www.mysite.com/username/ for the blog, and then an extra /profile/ or /albums/ and whatnot for the other features? It might say so in the FAQ, but I'm not sure what is entailed with "Permalinks" on the features list.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Hello,

That desired rewrite rule is possible just by adjusting some of your URL settings.

Excellent, one last question then: can it be set so that only members of a certain group have that privilege? I want paid members to have the easier to remember access names, and free members to be listed in the regular style.

No, it is a global rewrite of the 'member.php' script and doesn't take usergroups into account.
Don't confuse SEO with user features.

The idea is to rewrite your website into search friendly single resource pages. It is not designed to be quick links for users, although that can be the end effect.

Sorry for the late response, but thanks for your answers! I have another question that just came up. Basically, I'm not sure whether or not I will use vbulletin for two sites or just one. My current site is a gaming site which I may switch over to vbulletin, depending on a number of factors, and the new site I am starting will use the vBulletin Suite, so for now I am just purchasing one copy for the gaming site, and if I end up not using it for that I can switch my registered URL over to the new site. So my question is, can I do the same with vbseo? Can I register with my gaming site, and if I end up not going the vb way with that site transfer my vbseo subscription to the new site instead?

Yes, you can transfer non-expired vbseo licenses once every 90 days.

Excellent! I'd only need to transfer it once, if at all, so that is exactly what I hoped to hear. Is there a limit on how long after you purchase before you are allowed to transfer?

Hate to bump a thread, but I think it's being missed somehow. Here's my (hopefully) final question again:

Is there a limit on how long after you purchase before you are allowed to transfer your vbseo license to a new site?

    Hello, Sorry for the delay.

The 90 day rule applies to new purchases as well. So, if you buy, you must wait 90 days to transfer to a new URL.

Ok, thank you then. I'll just have to wait on the vbseo purchase until I am certain on whether or not I will be using vbulletin on my game site or not, so I don't have to worry about waiting for a transfer to my other site later.

Just out of curiosity, the thing on this site where it underlines an abbreviation (like vbseo ) and then displays words when you mouse over it, is that a feature of vbseo or a separate mod?

Yes, this is a vbseo feature called Acronym Expansion.

You can set the var -> string as well as set them to link if desired.

That's pretty useful! Does it work for blogs and articles in the CMS as well?
