    current .htaccess vs vbseo .htaccess

I already use my own .htaccess file to translate a few *.php files into *.html (feeble effort to confuse hackers), for example a few static pages and some of the vbadvanced pages (e.g. forumdisplay.php?f=13 into mainforum.html and blah.com/general.html).

Will these rewrite conditionals be accepted still (as many have them bookmarked) or must they be removed completely in order to maintain vbseo integrity?

    Hello,

if you have existing rewrite rules for forum URLs, you should setup a redirect from old links to new vBSEOed ones.

And I would find information on setting this up where? Or is it part of the package?

Forgive my ignorance, I'm not really too hot on .htaccess/redirects, etc.

That would depend on exact rewrite rules you are using now. You will just post them on the forum or in support ticket and we'll provide you with instructions.

Ooh - this includes member profiles too.

e.g. my profile for my site is like http://mywebsite.com/karlm

can they too be rewritten to point to newer profiles?

Since there is no user ID in your existing member profile URLs, a multiple custom redirects will have to be setup (one per profile).
