    Copyright in the template

I'm willing to buy this script but we would like to remove the copyright in the template. It doesn't have to be 100% label free but since we also have a label free vB licence we would like to be able to remove the footer in the template.

At what condition can this be done?

All we want is clean templates because it is a forum of a companies website.

    Currently vBSEO do not offer a branding free alternative. Looking at the vBSEO License Agreement you can see that vBSEO requires a copyright notice placed on all vBulletin pages;

    - Modify and/or remove any copyright notices or labels that vBSEO™ places on each page of your vBulletin™ forums.
Therefore only the Header and Footer templates feature on each vBulletin powered page, you can therefore place the vBSEO Copyright notice in either of these templates.

why is there no deal for branding free? I don't get that... let's say for $200 instead of $149. For certain kinds of websites branding free matters.

Offering a branding free option is still planned for the future, we just don't have a definite date. Currently you can choose from several different formats for the copyright line, half of which are non-linked.

after now reading trough the forum incl. the german forum it becomes obvious that there is a remarkable demand for a branding free version! And in some threads I've read that it will be available some time in March..

Technically this shouldn't be a problem...

Where can I see the different formats for the copyright?

    From the config file:

I dont believe that branding free isnt offered because of technical limitations, i think that because the product is still within its advent of generating a reputable reputation within the vBulletin community that viral promotion on websites, and gaining important linkbacks to the vBSEO website is currently much more valuable than the additional charge of branding free.

    Michael,

I think that you are right! Specially you are right when the target audience of forums are programmers, webmasters, administrators or moderators. In that case the footer has a huge effect on promoting vbSeo. Many users here and on vb.org are administrators of forums with a technical orientation.

But in case you have an audience in your forum that doesn't even know what vB is and that can't even tell the difference between .php .html and .aspx then the advertisement effect is nearly or absolutly zero!

The community I run has an audience that is 100% non technical educated and also not interested in technical aspects. They don't care what technology is used and they don't care if the site is seo, because they don't even know what seo is... the only thing they know about seo is that google exists and they use it for almost all their search-needs.

My point is.. when they see the link or the name on the bottom of the page they get confused. I used to have the copyright line of vB in the footer and many users were asking me if our company is owned by this vbulletin company... because they don't understand the concept of buying scripts and install them on a server. I know this is hard to imagine but that is plain reality... only few people really know the tech stuff... and for that reason we startet one year ago to simplify everything to increase the usability and to increase the clearness of the brands used....

if you read here in the footer of this page "powered by vBulletin Version 3.5.4" I would assume that vbSeo belongs to the vB company... But just because I'm in the programming industry I know better.... this are the kinds of confusions we face in daily business.

    Conclusio:
If a forum has technical orientated users the reputations generation is absolutely relevant and brings value to vbSeo. But if a forum has a totally different community there is absolutly no value generated to vbSeo. In this case removing the copyright on the site itself wouldn't decrease the value to vbSeo in terms of reputation but it would increase the value to the customer - and that is absolutely key!

In economics we call this pareto-efficient ;-)

    Kind regards, etterra

Would it be possible that vbSEO does not yet want to offer the copyright free option so that they improve their own rankings?

That would normally be a reasonable assumption. They do however acknowledge that forcing their own customers to link to them is a very unreasonable practice.... which is exactly why they offer non linked versions of the copyright.

If you feel you want to contribute to the success of vBSEO then why not go for the linked version.... it's no big deal.

I want to state this again:

99% of my website is our own content of members and the vB software which we have label free.

If we now add vbSeo which makes only 1% of the entire scripts used and we have the copyright on the bottom it provides a totally wrong picture. This is where our problem is!! We don't care if there are copyrights in the source, in the backend, in the html-source or in the impressum.

But we do care if there is a copyright on the site that only represents a very small part of the entire community... and again it is a company website not some webmasterforum that is run by webdesigners...

So just have a linked copyright. SEO by vBSEO.

As a company, you do not specialise in SEO. Your clients and visitors will praise you for partnering with someone who does specialise. It actually lends credit to you for being so astute in your choice of business partner.

    Hello,

at the moment we don't offer a branding free option yet.
It's on the roadmap for the future.

    Nearest future?

ps: Can't understand why you do not have branding free option, because there are other SEO scripts (free). Also I can't understand how my travel forums can't promote vBSEO by this "copyright".
