    Considering Purchase

    Hey All,

Just a couple of questions for you. My site is already a few months old and has a few thousand posts (not many I know) and is also ranked reasonably well for a few search terms on google. Therefore would it be appropriate to go through rewriting the URLs now? Can we 301 the old URLs and how will that effect the rankings we already have in google? At the moment we just use default vb extensions.

Also how will upgrades work when vb4 is released? Will that be a seperate version we have to pay for or will it be a free upgrade?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jamie

Yes, all old URLs are 301 redirected. So any links on external pages to your threads won't break.

You may experience a temporary drop in the SERPs while Google reindexes your Forum with the new URLs. This temporary period may vary from a week to a month or two, depending on how many URLs need to be reindexed and how much authority your site has.

The staff here have confirmed that vbseo will be fully compatible with vB4. And they will be taking part in the Alpha testing of vB4. As long as your vBSEO license is active, it will most probably be a free upgrade.

    Hello Jamie ,

As Shadab mentioned all your current indexed urls will be redirected to vBSEO'd format. In most cases as original content is correctly redirected users don't face SE referral drops but in same cases it happens for a short period.

If you have an active vBSEO license you can download any new released vBSEO version.

    Hi Jamie,

I would not expect much impact with only a few thousand posts. If anything, you might see a faster turnaround on a traffic boost. Our sitemap generate helps to ensure that the re-indexing is more rapid.
