Changing Domains: Should I Move To Vbseo Now?

    Hello,

We are a large and old community (though we changed/upgraded domains 8 months ago), due to circumstances (our domain is under attack from a larger company who we unknowingly may have infringed on their trademark) we are going to move domains again. It is obviously somehting we hate doing, after moving to our current URL only 8 months ago, but it seems necessary.

When we moved to our current URL 8 months ago I did a lot of reading, that suggested basically just put up the adequate 301 redirect and try to leave the site as similar as possible so google recognizes and credits the site as being the original. We did this and we didn't really notice any decrease in traffic, as the old domain as slowly deindexed the new one was reindexed and traffic stayed steady the whole time - thanks google.

We currently receive around 30k uniques a day from google, and during this time I have always wanted to move to vbseo, but never took the plunge. But now that we have to go through the reindexing again I am wondering, should I install vbseo at the same time? Or is it better to keep the site as close to the original as possible throughout the move? I know vbseo will 301 redirect to the new URL's, but I am curious as to what you advise. Should I wait until we are reindexed on the new domain, and then go through the process again by installing vbseo then, now that we are recognized and credited by google as being the original site?

On a site note, are the vbseo URL paths the same between vb3.8 and vb4? Just curious for the future.

Thanks a lot for the help and input.

I would suggest doing it now. No sense putting your self through 2 re-indexing periods if you don't have to. You can direct everything in webmaster tools, and vbseo will take care of the rest.

Urls do not change between vb3 and vb4, unless of course that section didn't exist in vb3 but does now in vb4 (ie, the cms). But your main forum and thread urls, etc will not be changed.
