Changing domains and installing vBSEO at the same time?

Howdy Folks,

I have a forum with about 50K posts that has been online for about 3 years. I'm getting ready to move to a new domain name that I recently purchased. I know it's crazy to change domains on an established site but the domain I purchased is A LOT better and is 8 years old so I hope that will help.

Anyways, I'm not only changing domain names but I'm also moving from a forum install in the root to a /forum/ folder. So the old site was url.com: Search with Many and the new site is NewURL.com | URLs | New URL | Website Design Templates | Computer Programming .

I was going to 301 all my urls to the /forum/ folder on the new site and now I'm thinking of installing vBSEO as well.

What would be the best way to direct the traffic? 301 from the old domain name to the new one and then 301 the old urls to the new urls? Not sure how to move forward.

Thanks.

Hello Nathan ,

I will suggest you to install vBSEO to your new url. You can ask 301 redirect assistance for old domain to new domain.

I guess I'm wondering if there is a problem with doing two 301s. One from the old domain to the new and one from the old urls to the new ones.

Hey Nathan,

I can't imagine that there would be any issues.

Have done this in the past too.
