Car Forum Owner - Few Questions to ask

Hello Everyone,

My name is Rani (Ronnie pronounced) and I own a car forum, 6thGenMaxima.org. I recently updated to 4.0 publishing suite, added chatroom, etc. My forum has been around since 2004 and has a lot of contents and useful info, BUT it doesn't have that much traffic at all. My Q's are:

- Would vBSEO really enhance it and give it more traffic?
- Would I be able to install vBSEO myself or should I have someone install it?

I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to SEO, advertising, promoting, etc.. so be easy on me with technical terms.

I appreciate all your help and input.

If you are administrating vBulletin since 2004 , i believe you'll have no problem with vBSEO installation. vBSEO installation is pretty straight forward. Uploading files , importing vBSEO product file and defining your settings. You can read installation instructions within vBSEO 3.3.2 Readme File

Your sites niche has a lot of competition and yes vBSEO should help you

vB 4.0 was the first vB software that was ever used on that site. It's always been running on phpbb2 until Jan 2010. Pardon my ignorance, but what did you mean when you said my site's "niche"?

If I purchased it, attempted the install myself and failed, would I be able to order installation then?

Sorry, but what does this mean:

B. License your vBSEO instance:

1. CHMOD 666 the 'vB-root/vbseo/resources/xml/config.xml' file.

CHMOD means updating file read - owner - usergroup privilidges. If you are using a linux based server please contact your site through FTP , locate the file by browsing through files and when you locate the file right click to the file.


Click on File Permissions ( Name can be different according to your ftp program ) and update file permissions to 0666

My host co doesn't use ftp, but I do have access to the root folders, files, etc. I did locate the file, but i'm not using linux... just simply windows xp.

I didright click on the file and it didn't give me any permission option. Should I contact support?

If you are on Windows server , then probably permissions are set correct. Please try skipping that step now and move on next step.
