| Can VBSEO Help my site
Hi My site Flying Recreational Aircraft - The Australian Home Of Recreational Flying is already number 1 on google for the search of recreational flying but I have these questions of VBSEO. 1. The posts in my forums are only visible to registered users however guests can still see the thread titles in the forumdisplay.php page. Will VBSEO still be able to offer the advantages that it does. 2. I currently have a flash home page that also has a static html version behind it. Google search has listed the menu items from the static page however I am about to drop all that and go with a vBadvanced home page. Will Google pick up the navigation menu items then if I use VBSEO 3. I also use Ajax tabs to break up my forums into several categories. How will VBSEO support this in getting seen by search engines 4. If I do a search on the text of one of my separate forums Google only picks up the Archive. Will VBSEO help to get the forum itself recognised 5. As I advised the posts in my forums are hidden to non-registered viewers but will VBSEO be able to get aspects of the posts like key words etc out into the search engines so my site's listing in the search engines is higher on words not just the name of my site 6. If I may be so bold would anyone from VBSEO have a look at my site and post back here any other ways that VBSEO would benefit my site Sorry about the questions but we are non profit and trying to save lives of recreational pilots and the cost of VBSEO + Brand Free + Installation is very high and that money would have to come out of the scholarship fund that helps school students get into flying. Thanks for your time and help! |

1. Yes - vBSEO will still provide link consensus. However, it is much preferred that you actually make some content available. 2. Any links on a HTML based homepage will be visible to Google, if they are visible to guest users. vBSEO does help optimize your vBA homepage as well. 3. If the URLs in Ajax are not available on the page for vBSEO to rewrite, there could be an issue. If they are available, vBSEO will rewrite them. If not, our vBSEO Extensions API may be useful. 4. Optimizing your site with vBSEO will definitely help shift focus to your main pages. We have several settings related to the archive, and even sometimes recommend removing the archive completely. 5. The URLs are listed, even if the post is NOT, vBSEO will still rewrite the URL with keyword rich versions, and will still provide "link consensus". However, this is certainly NOT the preferred way to do things. Making content available is the absolute best way to build your long tail: Pin the Tail on the SEO Donkey (with Link Consensus)! What is the Search Long Tail? - vBulletin SEO Forums 6. vBSEO will benefit your site like any other. The problem is, as you've mentioned, that you are not making much content available to guests. Check out: Your Site Review - Stuff to Do First I understand your concerns about fees. Rest assured in knowing that gaining search traffic to your site can do anything from saving lives (by exposing uses to your information), and even *building your scholarship fund* by attracting future donors, etc. The potential value of search traffic for your forum is pretty much unlimited.

Thanks Joe I have just purchased VBSEO + Branding Free + Installation = $437 AUD OUCH!!! There are a couple of things that I need to do with the top end of the site (i.e. some standard html pages) that I need some advice on whether to leave them as they are or bring them in as pages of the forums etc. I presume we will have a discussion on what needs to be done and what is the best way to do things first before VBSEO is installed? Here's looking to a great future relationship between Flying Recreational Aircraft - The Australian Home Of Recreational Flying and VBSEO |

Hi Ian, Installation is normally a pretty streamlined process, so I would recommend that we get into the details now before you submit the install request via the ticketing system. Your start up costs were a little higher since you choose the full package with branding removal and installation. However, it is actually very common for people to purchase this full package and have peace of mind right of the beginning that everything is perfect. But the best part is the ROI! In the coming months we'll be very interested in hearing how you do, and how fast you can recoup your investment... or in the case of non-profit sites how many positive outcomes occur with the help of vBSEO delivering more and *more relevant* traffic. So - please give us some questions you have before your install. Also check out these two resources which are long, but valuable reading: Your Site Review - Stuff to Do First Briansol's Ultimate Guide to vBSEO

Thanks Joe My original site had a flash index page with a hard coded menu to html pages and the forums. The index page has a static version of the html in there as well so whilst the flash is displayed the search engines pick up the html menu of the page and shows: ![]() Even clicking on this will bring up the flash home page. The problem now is that the forums and all the addons have taken over the old html site and the menu links are no longer current so I am making the vBa home page as my index page. If we take for example my page that is in my domain root called about.htm. I would like to know is do I: 1. leave it as a html page and just create a page in vBa and incorporate it with the vBa site menu module 2. make it a template in my forums and incorporate it as a vBa page 3. I also have Logicans Web templates mod so do I make it a Web Templates page that automatically gets picked by the address http://www.recreationalflying.net.au...w.php?pg=About Hope this makes sense as these are preparatory things that I need to do to prepare my site for you |

Also, with my forum posts being locked to guests - they can see the thread titles but not the thread post content, this has helped with my forum registration numbers. Guests are teased right up to the thread title and then they register to view the thread content. If I want the search engines to list my site higher on more key words you say I should expose the post content more - problem is I don't want people to just come to the site and then go again, I prefer them to register which gets people posting more. If they come and read and then have to register to post, then they won't bother registering. My site is not based on a financial return by clicks but thrives on the number of posts that are made to help others. If the number of posts drop so to will the people using the forums. I wish I could just give the search engines their own login ![]() Of about 120 forums I could only make about 10 of them open which are just safety releases and news copied and rss feed from newspaper etc. I am hoping that when you do the install you don't just install the software and that's it but you may lend some advice on things that I could do - thanks again! |

Keep in mind, bots are guests. if its closed to guests, search engines can't read it and index it it either. |

Kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't - this makes it a hard decision as I have asked a few members today and they have said they may not post as much if it was open to public viewing as they don't know who may be reading their posts - for example a CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) person where now the registration process enables me to know who is who by IP addresses, phone numbers, email address (no free email addresses allowed), location etc. Hmmm, what does one do? |

It seems like your user base needs the privacy. You might want to create a poll to find out for sure. However, if that is the case, your plan of opening up about 10 of the forums that you can will be helpful. Again, you do have the thread titles visible which will help in a minor way. Perhaps you can brainstorm with your top members on which content might be suitable to open up, and which absolutely must remain private until registration. I'm glad you are replacing the Flash. vBA is a good option. We use it here, although Juan did a great job heavily customizing it.

Thanks Joe Can anyone tell me if a pure html home page index.html that just contains the site menu, graphics and text (and appropriate meta tags etc) would get a better search engine level then an SEO optimised vBadvanced index.php home page that uses the site navigation module? I am tossing up what type of home page to have - vBa would be much more powerful by being able to bring snippets of each section of the site together to give a "live" snapshot but would be useless if the search engines can't make the most of it compared to a static html page - thanks! |

Thanks Mert but is it just as good as an html page - still learning all this SEO stuff I have now implemented the mod that allows the first post in every thread to be displayed which is a kind of inbetween solution. I am also still needing an answer to Post #7 of this thread so I can finish getting the site ready - almost there: - from post #7 If we take for example my page that is in my domain root called about.htm. I would like to know is do I: 1. leave it as a html page and just create a page in vBa and incorporate it with the vBa site menu module 2. make it a template in my forums and incorporate it as a vBa page 3. I also have Logicans Web templates mod so do I make it a Web Templates page that automatically gets picked by the address http://www.recreationalflying.net.au...w.php?pg=About Thanks! |

Yes it is good as an html page. I am not aware of that mod you talk about which allows first post on every page. When bots visit your site they are identified as bots. There are some black hat SEO tactics which webmasters use to differ page content betwen guests and bots. Usually they do cloaking . If SE's catch any site that makes cloaking they drop them from search index. Thats why if you want your pages to get indexed you must allow guests to access your pages. If you are planning to create pages depending on templates i suggest you to use only Logician's mod as it is better in my point of view. You can also create a CRR for Logician's hack so you can have static urls You can use the following CRR Code: 'view\.php\?pg=(.+?)$' => '$1.html' While creating these pages you can use header structure so your on page SEO will be better. You can read more about header structure from any of the following threads : site:vbseo.com h1 tags - Google Search
