Can someone explain what zend and Ioncube are?

We are moving to Vbulletin from Ubbthreads. I am attempting to install VbSEO in our new vBulletin forums before switching from UBBthreads. I am currently working in the development version and we have done a test import of all of our threads.

Thanks

That didn't really answer but I found the answer. I guess Zend and Ioncube are PHP optimizers and you need to have one of them installed on your server in order to use VBSEO. So I have a request into our IT department to install one on our server.

Please try the test script from the downloads area - possibly you already have either zend or ioncube installed.

The VbSeo software is encoded, using zend or Ioncube (depending on which your server will handle)... zend or Ioncube uncodes it one your server and reads it.

According to our phpinfo, we have this ;

Quote:
This program makes use of the Zend Scripting Language Engine:
Zend Engine v2.0.4-dev, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
but your test script fails, am I missing something obvious ?

It could be an old version of Zend. Install the latest version and you should be good to go.

Okay, done that, it now says

Quote:
This program makes use of the Zend Scripting Language Engine:
Zend Engine v2.0.4-dev, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
with Zend Extension Manager v1.2.0, Copyright (c) 2003-2006, by Zend Technologies
with Zend Optimizer v3.2.2, Copyright (c) 1998-2006, by Zend Technologies
The test script is still confusing though - at the top it now has the green tick and
Quote:
Zend Optimizer Yes

But under that it still says ;

Quote:
This test script was unable to find Zend Optimizer on your server and was unable to successfully run Ioncube.
Confused ????

Sometimes test script is unable to detect zend optimizer, as I see from phpinfo, your host now supports Zend Optimizer.
