    Bug?

When I went to this page: vbulletin copyright removed I was getting this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: vbseo_safe_redirect() in /home/vbseo/domains/vbseo.com/public_html/vbseo.php on line 154

This is happening on your own website, which isn't really giving me a lot of good faith in your product.

Additionally, I have been waiting for the copyright removal (of vbseo itself) for several months now, because a vbseo staff member indicated about 4 months ago that the option to get the copyright removed would be introduced "shortly". It's been 4 months now and I still don't see this option. I'm definitely not going to place an order until this option has been added. I really don't mind paying extra for that.

I fail to see why you haven't introduced this before. Obviously you are trying to gain new customers by doing this, which isn't very professional considering these people are already paying you quite a lot for this product. There shouldn't be a need to force paying customers advertise for you.

I'm quite sure there will be some other company to step up and create a similar VB addon as vbseo, and obviously that company will receive a ton of sales if they don't force such a copyright inclusion. I understand you just want your name to be spread all over the internet, but I think you are forgetting that at the same time you are losing a great deal of customers because of that. If you'd ask me it would be about time you give in to the demands of your potential customers, and catch the fishes that are out there while you can.

That link works fine for me. Not sure why you're seeing an error.

As for the copyright discussion, it's been discussed many times, and there are still plans to offer a branding free license at some point in the future. (copyright removal)

If you search around the site you'll see that the subject (pros, cons, etc) has been well covered already.

I was updating vBSEO.com (to 2.3.3d) using the new streamlined upgrade process. However, I'm currently on a dial-up connection. You probably clicked that page while the files were being uploaded .

    Re: Copyright removal option
It is already in the works and will be introduced within the next two months. We have a set date, however I can't disclose it now at the risk of not being able to meet the exact date.

We understand the concerns of users that do not want to display the copyright, for those, the CR removal option will be made available.

That error is a server-side error, it doesn't have to do with me in particular. I have almost a million pages in google and I'm not willing to risk that, so I'd just like to know what happened there. It does work fine for me too right now, but it didn't before (if that would have happened on my site I could have lost a potential customer).

I am aware of that thread, but it has been closed a while ago, which is why I'm asking about the status here. I understand very well why vbSEO doesn't want to allow copyright removal, since it offers them free advertising. Then again, as I said, it would be about time they start giving in to the demands of their existing potential customers, before they lose them.

Thank you for your response Juan.

That would explain the error I was seeing - no problem then. Regarding the copyright removal: I understand you can't tell me a release date, but could you just explain why this cannot be released right now?

I'm quite sure there are lots of other people like me who are still waiting for the copyright removal. We have been assured that the copyright removal would be introduced "soon" many times over the past 4 months, and I'm not sure whether I'll be willing to wait much longer. Keep in mind you're basically putting all those potential customers at risk if someone else steps up and introduces a branding free option on a similar product.

Before releasing vBSEO 2.0 on Sept. 23, 2005, we had a set time-line for every stage of the product, although I can assure you (and our community can confirm this ) that we have been delayed for almost every stage - However, the reasons for not making the CR removal option available now (or earlier) are more complex than just "vBSEO wants to advertise on your site".

I would rather not disclose these reasons now, however, an interview will be published via TAZ where I elaborate a bit more about it. Please bear with me. I'll do my best to introduce it the soonest possible within that time-frame.

To be honest I really don't believe there's anything more to it apart from SEO and advertising. I mean it's only a matter of removing a single line from the footer, it's not as if there's a lot of work involved to accomplish that.

I didn't mean complex in a technical way.
