What can be done to remove or change the VBSEO branding option at the foot of each page (e.g.Search Engine Friendly URLs by vBSEO 3.0.0 RC8)?
Find the following option in your config_vbseo.php file:
A list of branding options is available for you to select. You change it by changing the # in the above code.PHP Code:define('VBSEO_COPYRIGHT', 0);
Thanks Joe
It is good that you have unlinked options. The "best" one I found was;
LinkBacks Enabled by vBSEO 3.0.0 RC8 © 2007
BUT, I always worry about forums that display what version they use in case a vulnerability is found and script kiddy hackers then search google easily for sites to hack.
Also, I think you are probably aware that repeated text on a page is not a good thing often with search engines. The subject of copyright notices was recently discussed on webmasterworld with relation to Matt Cutt's (Google's) comments about the same perhaps affecting search rankings.
I would like to suggest some ideas / feature requests to you.
VBSEO needs its piece of the action (mentions / links) from forums that use your software, sure. But Google dampens regular link text in navigation etc. areas of a web site. Google also does not like the same repeated link text on third party sites to yours. So why not have a separate page option where forum webmasters can right their own bit about VBSEO and include a link to you with their affiliate code (if they are sales affiliates) included. This helps you with links with different anchor texts from pages with unique content and to different pages on your site (Google likes links to different pages)?
I would also like to suggest the option to have the last (copyright) text area dynamic, to get away from the issue Matt Cutts raised.
If you like my ideas and impliment them, may I have free lifetime support?![]()
You can remove the version as well - you have to manually edit the config_vbseo.php file and look for this option:
Change the 0 to a 1.Code:define('VBSEO_NOVER_INFO', 0);
Also: You can enabled your copyright link to the affiliate program. Just place your vBSEO Affiliate Program ID in the vbseocp.php settings.
How about offering a no branding option?
I find it amusing that literally the same statement has been made by company representatives on numerous occasions at least as early as November 2005 (click here for reference): Now, given that this branding-free option takes more than 2 years to develop, and given that it is oh so not available, exactly what did you sell in your ebay auctions for branding-free vbseo
here
here
and here???
The manner in which you conduct your business, sir, is dishonest.

I think Evey brings up a very good point.
Though I'm not looking foward that much to the release. The chances are it will be overpriced.
Way to go Evey![]()
Crawlability never stated a date that the branding free license would be available. Only that it would be available in the future. And, it will. When it is available, an announcement will be posted.
Thanks
