    apache compiled as cgi

Does vbseo work with apache compiled as cgi instead of as a module?
With vbulletin my archive appeared in a non search engine friendly format
    The urls would appear as
    /index.php?t-71.html

    instead of
/index.php?/t-71.html with the / that makes it friendly to search engines.

As a result I had to use an archive mod from vbulletin.org to address that issue.
Will I have this same problem with vbseo?

    Hey ian

It should work. vB's archive relies on the way PHP handles pathinfo. vBSEO, using mod_rewrite, doesn't suffer from any of the pathinfo bugs associated with PHP as CGI.

Also, make sure you can run encoded scripts.

    http://www.vbseo.com/downloads/

Download the Test script and run it on your server. It'll tell you if you need to install Zend or ionCube.

I guess you mean PHP runs as cgi?
Yes, this works as we use the same setup.

Thanks for your help, I just went ahead and purchased the script. If all goes well I may buy it for some other forums I run as well.

Until I read this thread I did not even know what the difference is

I just checked my admincp and it says

    Web ServerApache v1.3.26 (cgi)
and I never had problem, neither with vb, nor with vbseo ..
