Am I too late to start SEO services?

hello there.i am a non technical person and ever since i thought of launching a forum i have this terrible fright of handling the technical stuff.I purchased vbulletin license 3 months ago and have been learning and launching the forum.my question is that what is SEO and what do i need on my site and what would it do for me?currently i asked a friend to create adsense of google and he posted those on my site.the revenue going up and the members increasing, this is my motive. how can i accomplish this by introducing the SEO?Also, could someone please tell me what sort of add-ons and what else do i need for my site? I am willing to purchase, but i dont know what i have to purchase and how.Besides, i am not at all at home when it comes to installation and stuff. so do i get a detailed tuotrial for the installation? cause i would like to learn how to do stuff for myself. and is it possible that if i do not succeed, i have the staff do it for me? and is it possible that the staff could guide me how they did it and where i was not doing what incorectly?i am sorry for too many questions. but please i am looking for the right gidance. so far i have asked questions on a number of places but could not get proper answers. vBSEO installation takes around 5 minute. It is just uploading files and importing a product file. After that you may want to configure your settings. However default settings are fine. You can check our installation instructions from vBSEO 3.2.0 Readme File . thanx for the reply. actually i dont know what other addons are essential for seo to work. so i asked that what else would i be needing besides seo application?

also one more thing i wanted to know. does 3.2.0 gold cna be used with 3.8 as well? cause as soon as 3.8 is out, i will be upgrading to it. would i be needing to re-do the seo installation as well? (as is the case with most mods and add-ons i guess)

sorry to bother time and again. in the instructions for install, the first one says, "CHMOD 666 the 'vB-root/includes/config_vbseo.php' file.". I dont know how to do it. Can you tell me please how to do this?

other question that i have is, that is purchasing the license for SEO going to enable me to upgrade my system for new updates, free of cost? or do i have to pay each time i want to upgrade? like for example, i purchase 3.2.0 gold and tomorrow a new version is out in the market, now do i get this upgrade for free or would it cost me money again? and if it costs money then how much?

3.2.0 does work with 3.8, but our next release will fully support all of the new 3.8.x features. If you have vBSEO installed prior to the 3.8.x upgrade, only thing you will need to worry about is upgrading the vbulletin, your vbseo should stay working the same way.
