Exclamation Already have Dani's mod installed

I checked this out and it looks outstanding for spiders, good job gentlmen

listen I have Dani's mod already installed and wanted to know if i can use this to maintain the structure that I have on my forums already:

    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums

I was wondering if you would take a look at the structure that i have in place such as:

    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/f370-nba-rants.html
    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/t17...he-series.html
    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/f45...york-mets.html

and so forth. I am not trying to spam, just trying to make sure that this structure can and will still maintain my structure on forum names and posts.

    ALSO

I haved a completely moded news system that drives my site and will soon be upgrading to vb 3.5. I noticed that you said it should work with other plugins and wanted to know what your thoughts were on the external.

If i wanted to test this on a subdomain for testing purposes, if i purchased it, can i revise my site information once I have tested it on a dev site?

These are important questions i need answered prior to buying this product. I think and believe all the answers are yes but I want to make sure

    Regards
    Mike

    Been there, done that

    Mike,

listen I have Dani's mod already installed and wanted to know if i can use this to maintain the structure that I have on my forums already:
Just keep dani's .htaccess directives and vbSEO will take care of the rest.

AFAIK, vbseo is 100% compatible with all news hacks.

Just to be sure, which one are you using?

    @Mike:

When you purchase, please provide your actual forum URL. Also, you can then send me a PM with your test forum location.

The mod that I use for my front page and system is a custom modification that was written for me, I just need to test this

Normally you should be able to rewrite custom URLs with vbseo's "Custom Rewrite Rules" feature.

Re: Already have Dani's mod installed

Hello Mike, welcome to the forums.

Yes, you can reproduce your current structure using the settings in vbseocp.php.

For forum URLs, your current settings are:
    HTML Code:
    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/f370-nba-rants.html
    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/f459-new-york-mets.html

    Set Forum URL Format to:
    Code:
    f[forum_id]-[forum_title].html

For thread URLs, your current settings are:
    HTML Code:
    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/t17946-make-your-picks-for-the-series.html

    Set Thread URL Format to:
    Code:
    t[thread_id]-[thread_title].html

    ---------------

I haved a completely moded news system that drives my site and will soon be upgrading to vb 3.5. I noticed that you said it should work with other plugins and wanted to know what your thoughts were on the external.
What do you mean by external? You get or provide RSS (or other) feeds via your news system?

If i wanted to test this on a subdomain for testing purposes, if i purchased it, can i revise my site information once I have tested it on a dev site?
Yes you can - We will revise the EULA allowing for an additional instance for testing purposes.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Re: Already have Dani's mod installed

I do have one more question
Since my test domain for the upgrade of sportsrant is located at http://sto.sportsrant.com/forums and it is in the same domain, is the encoder set at the domain level or at the acutal URL.

Re: Already have Dani's mod installed

If you look at my structure from my root: http://www.sportsrant.com and follow the article links (example):
    http://www.sportsrant.com/article18292.html

    equals this forum post

    http://www.sportsrant.com/forums/t18...ok-week-5.html

the index.php that I have in the root is a custom news script that associates and dynamically creates pages that I desire based on a forum.

    more examples:

    http://www.sportsrant.com/mike_simonds.html

is based on a designated forum for my own page and anything posted in designated forum(s) will show on that page as articles posted by me.

Maybe what I am asking, since this is acutally a script that is not in the forums, but outside, can you think of anything that would cause a conflict between your script and the one that I am using

    TIA

    Mike

PS: sorry for all the stupid questions

Re: Already have Dani's mod installed

The script will run in your sub-domain (or in any URL) as well. However, it will ping our server if your license key doesn't match your licensed URL.

Therefore, you can request an additional license key for the test install. No probs.

You shouldn't have any problems with these dynamically generated pages as they simply query the database for the required info. vBSEO is completely non-intrusive, therefore, your scripts will continue to work as they do now

    Hi,

yes, you should remove old seo hack so that original vB urls are taken back. Then vBSEO will rewrite them.
