Advantages of using from day one

I have been reading a lot of what goes on this forum over the last month or so as I have a new project in mind that I would like to go live with. The question is, is it really worth using vbseo right from the outset?

Will it have a major impact on initial rankings, or is it not really going to show any major improvement until I have a few hundred plus posts? I am interested in the software, but it does cost a lot and I need to make sure that I will see some initail gains as I try and get the community aspect off the ground.

One last question is vbseo compatable with vbportal?

I would run it from the start, I recently advised a client to do so

that why they will get the correct URL's and post indexed the first time.

Will it increase the speed the search engines start to pick the site up though? I have another vBulletin site and google just hates it. I only have 2 indexed pages on it compared with MSN who has 86 pages indexed.

I'm not worried about that site though as the majority of the forum is not for public viewing. The question I am really interested to know is, what is the improvement one could expect compared to a standard version of vBulletin?

One of the main issues and worries for administrators not running vBSEO is that all previous backlinks and indexed content will still display the old dynamic vBulletin version. Now whilst these will be automatically 301ed (redirected) to the new vBSEO content, search engines may take a while to fully reindex all your content.

Therefore installing early into the creation of your forum will mean that you are minimizing this impact. Cromulent it is hard to say that by installing vBSEO you will get better results than by using a standard version since vBSEO is different in every instance. However by successfully implementing vBSEO, collecting relevant - related link exchanges, and performing onpage SEO you are maximing your chances of getting indexed and boosting your SERP placement.

Thank you for the advice everyone. I think that from what I have read here and elsewhere and the advice given to me really does suggest that vbseo is the way to go. I'm not expecting this site to be massive, but I would certainly like it to be as successful as it can be.

vBSEO is also introducing a new and exciting feature which will help improve and tackle the issue which no other vBulletin modification can. Link building. Thus with the implementation of search engine friendly URLs, with one URL per resource, the ability to improve the relevancy and quantity of link exchanges you will soon find more and more that you are ticking all the right boxes with regards to white-hat SEO

Using it from the outset is THE way to do it. Changing to it takes time, and even with 301's, the search engines take a hit.

I ran it from day one on CTF (see sig) and now a month old, is already beating out most of the established sites in search results.
