4+ month delay - do I dare to use vbseo

I have a vBulletin running 3.8 I would have upgraded long time ago, but now 4 months after the release vbseo has still not gone gold. I understand that there will be a delay for addon products like vbseo but 4 months is a long time.

Now I am about to start another vBulletin site, and I think about also using vbseo there, but I am concerned about the long time vbseo takes to have a gold release for new versions of vbulletin.

Why is this taking so long time to get a new version of vbseo ready? and will it always take so much extra time from a new vbulletin release to a matching vbseo release?

    Hello Thomas ,

Our apologies if vBSEO 3.5 Gold has taken more time than you expected. vBulletin has been revised various times since the initial version, we have followed a different approach in our release schedule where RC builds address issues that would have otherwise been present on the Gold release. In addition, keep in mind vBSEO 3.5 is our first major revision of vBSEO in the past 2 years and it must be tested against vB 3.x versions which requires additional QA time. Currently, the number of existing bugs is pretty low in vBSEO 3.5.0 RC3, we expect vBSEO 3.5.0 Gold to be released very soon.

Why have the same product for both vB 3.x and vB 4.x? Dosent this make more overhead and possible bugs?

We monitor the script overhead and queries closely, and make sure that there are no overlapping processes, hence the separate vB 3.x and 4.x product files. Similarly, functions are conditioned to the corresponding vB version as required.

I'll be posting a 3.5 Gold release announcement update with the projected release schedule via the announcements forum.

vbseo is a great product that is easy to use, but as with anything I have to consider both pro and cons. And delay in release + overhead are the main things I am concerned about.

    Thanks, for the quick reply
