    Question 301s and canonical support

    Just discovered vbseo.

Thinking about vbseo to assist in my soon to be upgraded to vB4 forum with Blog and CMS rewrites. Are there instructions on how to set up my rewrite URLs with 301s and canonical htaccess? I want to figure this out before I run vbseo live and have to turn it on and off while sorting out any issues. My VPS does run mod_rewrite.

I guess I'm wondering if there is a manual or other online instructions that can help me through the process. I have a test install of vB4 right now that I'm not going live with until I can work this out... Current forum is 3.8.

Thanks for any info. I sent an email asking these questions a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard back yet.

    Hello,

vBSEO takes care of 301's and canonical url's automatically. There's nothing to set up.

    Wow, fast reply!!

If I purchase vbseo now and apply it to my 3.8 forum, will I need to change anything when I upgrade to 4.0? Ive been thinking of waiting but if its seamless to upgrade, I may go ahead now.

Like all addons for vb, you must disable all products including vbseo before upgrading to vb4. Then, you must install the vb4 compatible version after the upgrade is complete.

3.3.2 is stable and is only for vb3.x forums.
3.5 RC2 is the latest build and supports vb4 as well as vb3, but each version uses a different product file.
