We are having serious problems with our service provider. This is NOT a vBSEO related issue. This is a networking related problem that has been occurring periodically for several members depending on their geographic location and the IP path their requests follow to get to vbseo.com.

Yeah I know this has nothing to do with the product as it works fine on my site.

Hopefully you are able to fix the network problem

$300 a month for system administration, and the site was hacked?

It could be some of the upstream providers that are having issues. Do you have any idea who your provider takes bandwidth from?

I feel if you are ever going to do this, maybe try and tap into the ddos protected market, as forum owners these days, we are seriously open to so many disgruntled users, who can now so easily dos/ddos our sites and bring it down.

I am now behind a proxy which is working quite well and only costing me $250 a month compared to $1350 a month which I got quoted from another well known ddos protection site.

Basically if you can offer true ddos protection and be on a network where you can truly handle ddos attacks (not just small ones, but big ones, as they are becoming more common today) Then you will have my true interest if you can do this affordable unlike the rest.

Exclamation Hosting PROBLEM??? Where should I host?

    Okay,
I just bought vBulletin, and I may have a problem:
There is no way to access my FTP / MySql log in, and my hosting company doesn't allow FTP access.

I will have to have them install it in a frame-set at http://forums.befit4free.com - Is that bad for SEO / should I host on the GoDaddy Hosting plan I own instead? I'd like to keep it associated with the www.BeFit4Free.com domain name!

This needs to be able to have everything indexed by Google, and I know that frames are bad for that.

I am hosted thru GoDaddy.com just because I already owned a hosting account there.
Would you mind checking out my forum and letting me know what you think? I need oppinions on layout, design, colors, etc.

we actually use: Platinum Server Management, Inc. and we have 3 servers being monitored for less than 100.00 per month and they have been nothing but outstanding for our dedicated servers. And always go above and beyond. (oh yea and that is for management); but we pay 400'ish for our dedicated server as well that is running vbulletin AND photopost.

I may be interested depending on where the servers would be located. USA would mean an instant "No" for me due to high pings and loading times of most web sites hosted in US.

Well, that question in the wrong forum here, and would likely be better addressed via vbulletin.com or maybe even vbulletin.org in the right forum.

My opinion, GoDaddy is NOT the place to host a vBulletin forum, if you want any type of performance at all, especially on shared hosting there, horrible. If you forum grows, you will quickly find that it performs soo poorly, you'll lose your members from frustration. GoDaddy does have FTP access, you just have to set it up within the control panel. Your domain can be pointed to any hosting company you buy.

    Anyhow, good luck.

As for the survey here, I think it's a real good idea (I responded some time ago when this was posted), depending on the options made available. I prefer a VPS (properly configured) at a minimum, with root and ssh access, for obvious reasons. Better yet dedicated, but that runs serious money until your monetizing effectively (and big enough to warrant it). I'll get there eventually (dedicated), but my VPS provider now is on some phenomenal hardware and performs unbelievably, so I'll make the big move when the time comes, which will be some time still.
