vBSEO v2.4.5 Is Near! Be Prepared!

The vBSEO team is very excited about the latest incarnation of vBSEO, and I’m sure you will be too! All known bugs have been corrected, and lots of very cool new features will be included.

This release has been delayed because we were waiting for the latest version of Zend Optimizer to be finalized. Now that it has, the release of vBSEO v2.4.5 can move forward. We do apologize for the delay.


***If you are using ionCube:
-If you are using the runtime loaders, you don't have to do anything. The updated loaders will be included with the vBSEO package.
-If you have installed the loaders natively on your server via php.ini, you should download the the latest loaders and update your server.

***If you are using Zend:
-In order to use the new vBSEO, you MUST upgrade your server to the latest version of Zend Optimizer.

For those of you using shared hosting accounts, we have put together a form letter to explain your needs to your ISP. If you manage your own dedicated server, you can use the letter as a guide to perform your own upgrade. Of course, the support team will be here to help along the way if needed.

Attention Admins of XYZ Hosting Company:

My website www.domain.com is hosted with you.

My vBulletin powered web forum uses a plugin application called “vBSEO” and it is Zend encoded.

Version 2.4.5 of the vBSEO software requires the latest version of the Zend Optimizer (version 3) to be installed on the server in order to run.

Please upgrade the Zend Optimizer on the server to the latest version of the Zend Optimizer.

Otherwise, I will be unable to upgrade to future versions of this application which is a critical component of my web forum.

I am including details of how to upgrade the Zend Optimizer, provided to me by the vBSEO development team.

How to Upgrade the Zend Optimizer

Apache
1. Download free Zend Optimizer for your platform here.
2. Upload it to your host and unpack it: gunzip -c ZendOptimizer-3.0.0-linux-glibc21-i386.tar.gz | tar xf -
3. Execute the following command line via SSH: ./install.sh

Windows
1. To ensure that your PHP installation is compatible with the Zend Optimizer, it is recommended to use the Windows packages posted in the Zend Store which are compiled in non-debug mode. The Zend Optimizer works only with non-debug PHP binaries.
2. The Zend Optimizer for Windows package is a self-extracting installer. Simply run the package file, and follow the installation instructions.
3. If you are running a server module (e.g.ISAPI), restart your server. For Microsoft IIS, run net stop iisadmin, and then net start w3svc, from the command line console.

Update:

A newer version of Zend will no longer be required.

Many hosts will not upgrade their servers to the most recent Optimizer, therefore we have decided not to make this a requirement.
