vBSEO v.3.0.0 Release Candidate 3 Released!

Hey guys thanks for the feedback so far

Definitely, the ping/trackback concept can be confusing. We are looking into better ways to get the idea across. As some of you suggested, a practical example might help, even a video, why not?

If someone is knowledgeable in Macromedia Captivate or any other screen capturing software (that also understands the ping/trackback mechanism fully), and is willing to make good dough in a very short time , please let me know via PM.

I agree with this totally, but having the feature there is pretty cool.

Its too bad, though, if there was a web standard for trackback URL in the HTML headers or something.. it could be made automatic when someone links to a URL? Would just need every blog / forum software in the world to adopt this standard...

The automatic pings for the links included in the post message are called pingbacks and are also implemented in vBSEO.
So, the main difference is that pingbacks are working automatic (parsing the links in the text), while trackbacks require you to enter target URLs manually.

Is this for Linux or Mircrosoft Server?

vBSEO works both on Unix/Linux servers (Apache/lighttpd/litespeed) and Windows (Apache/IIS).

Juan, I bought and used Macromedia RoboDemo and a few other programs. By far one of the easiest and cheapest flash tutorials you can make is with this software... Blueberry Software - Home of the BB FlashBack Screen Recorder

I'm still trying to learn this stuff. So if pingpacks are automatic, why & when would the need for manual trackbacks occur?

Not much work to find them with sooooo many blogs out there.

Search on : (keyword phrase) +blog or wordpress or permalink or trackback...

With trackback you don't have to include the link to this external page in the message (that's why it can't work automatically). So, you can get the one-way backlink here.

Thanks for the feedback. The next build will feature all these elements as template modifications so you can easily modify (implement) in customized skins

or being able to change the pingback table so it displays even with 0 entries (and just display a "No Trackbacks" message).

Hmmm... well, it has been designed to not display this table if there are no ping/trackbacks recorded, keeping unnecessary content off your pages. If there's a compelling reason for making this an option, we are willing to check it out

For me, I'd rather show all the info about trackbacks in the trackbacks table (not as a menu next to threadtools).

It's just about choice I would rather it just use vB conditionals like everything else in vB to decide to show the table or not. So people like me can just edit the template to gain the functionality we want.
