I agree, I don't think you should need to edit people's posts though just because they mention other software.

I would love to upgrade IF my licenses were listed in my account... they seem to have disappeared!

Licenses Gone?!

After seeing the way in which this was handled, I decided that moving forward I was going to use other software. While a far less superior software, certainly business ethics means a lot and this is simply not ethical. Certainly we can get into a debate over whether it's fair or not for vbSEO to support a product for life without renewal fees which is fine but then don't deceive people with the concept of a "lifetime" license because then we are just arguing over semantics. Fact of the matter is when you are not privy to essential operational aspects of a software like security updates, then lifetime doesn't mean a hill of beans.

I think you are going to find that the majority of people were not aware of this aspect of the software and while it may only have had a marginal impact on sales being that I imagine that most vbSEO sales are in fact impulse buys, proper notification would have been the right thing. Proper notification of course being porperly and clearly noted on every part of the site that references price and not simply on a random page conveniently placed within mountains of text.

Ultimately when it comes down to it, it's become transparent, with this issue as well of the way in which vbSEO handled the branding free option that the core focus is about squeezing as much money out of their loyal user base as possible. While this can be said to have some truth to it with most businesses, building a foundation on a superior product along, forgetting about business ethics only last so long as it's not long before someone builds a better mouse trap.
I don't know where all you people have been but for quite some time now it has been made clear that there will be an upgrade fee.

It has been said since this software was introduced that there would be a yearly renewal. If you want to move your other "gigs" to other software, then it is their loss, and a very bad decision on your part.

vBSEO has always maintained that their product was an annual license and that a yearly upgrade fee would be required if you wanted to upgrade the product.

On top of that, they gave you a grace period once vBSEO 3.0 went GOLD to download the latest software to install on your sites.

I always expected an annual license renewal like vbulletin's model. I have no problems with that. However, I do have a big problem with the copyright-free issue and would like that asap please.

That quote is very frustrating for someone who has been waiting on a branding free option for well over a year. The recent limited ebay offering was ugly.

Im just praying that UK-Muscle.co.uk dosnt do the same!!!!
nearly EVERYONE with a mid-high PR dropped 1 level in this last PR 2 weeks ago....

2 of my 5's went to 4's
vbseo went from 6 to 5
DP went from 7 to 6
daniweb went from 7 to 6

don't stress it. it's just google being google.

Anyway, back on topic....

I understand the renewal model can get pricey ( I too own 5 licenses) but it is what it is. vbseo is here to support ALL your sites, not just 1.
with 5x times the sites, theres 5times the chance that you will need support at one time or another.

Joe/Juan/Oleg are skinny enough. We need to feed vbseo

I for one am with some here that I still can not bring myself to think that vbseo has done anything to my site forum. All the hoopla talk of getting indexed and spiders and so on and so on. It all comes down to back links and things like that. At this time I wont renew or pay anything. I get the same answers here (backlinks backlinks backlinks) Then I am told I need content. Ok fellows who wants to make a backlink link page? I for one will set one up on my site . If we get enough people with their sites heck we wont need vbseo

vBSEO helps you get your site indexed. It cannot, however, force people to search for terms that are related to your site. If you don't have content that people are looking for, it doesn't matter how well your site is indexed.

Your site has around 2000 posts and 50 members, which are low numbers. I also see that your site style appears to be the default vBulletin style. Work on making the site look good/unique, and having that "something" that makes people continue to participate. That "something" is different for each site, but you need to do things to create interest in your subject matter.

When I try to use "Today's Posts" on your site, I get an error. Things like that can turn prospective members away too. Make it a point to visit your site as a guest, and as a "normal" test member account on a regular basis to make sure everything looks and works correctly. Just because something works for you as an Admin doesn't mean it's working for everyone else.

Even though I would have expected vbseo to apply a subscription renewal to keep profitable, what's really annoying for myself is that 10 of my vbseo licences expired just 3 weeks before the subscription process began.

Also, I'm concerned about renewing because the list of sites in my downloads section uses a very out of date list, so I guess I'll have to raise a support ticket.
