Cause vBSEO is not responsible for the vBulletin itself, vB4 is really a total mess thats why everyone is complaining about it.
it needs tones of modifications to make it better but after a month BOOM ... a shocking update is out and they change almost everything and the modification should be re-done again...

thats why so many great companies stopped supporting their products like Photoplog , GARS etc.

Ali, I was actually more referring the the Google's over-optimization update (code named "Penguin") which may be making SEO tools in general (not just vBSEO) not as useful as they were in the past years (or even counter-productive).

But to be honest the 4th version of vbulletin was (and still is a) total mess...

Yeah, I did buy my vB4 license, have tested and modified vB4 for weeks, but then decided to stay with my existing vB3.8 for performance reasons.

URL consistancy and many other things are still valid and vBSEO is focusing only on white hat SEO tactics. vBSEO still succeed way better than original vBulletin. Thousands of boards still extremely succeed perfect with vBSEO and improve their traffic each other day. The main issue is each other day more websites are introduced to internet and websites have hard competition. In order to succeed buying vBSEO is not the only thing you need to do. You need to focus on your website and work hard on your website to succeed. You need to make sure your server is capable to handle traffic , your websites have new and unique content daily , your server is safe so you will not face issues etc...

Many people expect new features from vBSEO , though only thing i expect is keeping this stability as a big board owner.

I started my site with vB 4.0 2 years ago and have been pleased with the performance, stability, and growth. Maybe if I started with vB3.x it would be different but I'm a very satisfied vB 4.x customer. Same with vBSEO and VaultWiki. Great software.

I hope vBSEO has a new release soon. SEO has changed since the last release so certainly more can be done for SEO.

A new version is being coded right now. We will spply more information soon though currently there are two new versions on the plate :
1. 3.6.1 with some new features , bug fixes
2. vBulletin 5 compatibility ( this hasn't started yet but will start very soon )

I doubt it.

The results are not as flattering for SEO as you may think.

Especially if your forum is in a forum subfolder.

eg

mydomain.com/forum/forum/nameofthreadetc

And there is no way of redirecting from old vBSEO URLs to the new vB ones, unless you do it with .htaccess etc

That very fact alone would stop a lot of big forums upgrading to vB5 as the hit on traffic would be disastrous.

Well I'd just like to see 3.6.1. vb5 installs are a LONG way off for many forums. 3.6.1 will bring in a lot of renewal money for vbseo assuming it has the promised updates (such as the likes system).

Ok, its beta, I know.... but the design its very bad, it hurts to the eyes, looks like a simple wordpress' forum plugin...

I know too there will be themes (free and paid themes), but the default design...

This might actually help vbseo sales.. Vb5 is a REALLY bad... No one is going to buy it (at least not to install vb5, maybe to install vb4)... VBSEO should keep working on the 3.6 chain as that is going to be where all the customers are for a VERY long time to come.

I'm not going to update to vB5, but with no updates for a year, VBSeo seems like a dead project to me...!!!! It's a bit disappointing... to say the least!

Google changes over the past few years have been all about crap content, link farms, and artifical link building (Google's term). None of that has anything to do with what vBSEO adds to forums (yes including vB4 forums). Mert is correct.

Not to mention the fact that vBulletin 4.x offers a version of built-in SEO, which pretty much relies on a buggy implementation of URL rewriting. I don't expect vBulletin 5 do do very much better in this respect.
