I took the plunge this weekend. Upgraded to vBSEO 3.5 (latest RC) and then vBulletin Suite 4.01.

Good news: vBSEO installed smoothly and to be doing everything it promises.

Bad news: vBulletin 4.01 is still buggy as all get out. Honestly, I waited for 4.01 figuring they'd have a clean product by then but this is more like another pre-release candidate. Not very professional.

Notice how tiny everything is in the reply editor box? That's one of the bugs. An easy fix buit it sholuld have been fixed already in a bet or RC.

    vBSEO Team,

Can we have a road map of the future vBSEO version till 3.5 Gold? I don't want actual dates but a plan, like how many RCs there will be.

With vB now totally unpredictable, I'll upgrade to vB 4.x only when vBSEO hits gold. Hope you understand my problem.

What is happening? Where is Release Candidate 2? Where is Gold? vBulletin 4.0.2 is going to be released soon and there is not even a Release Candidate 2 for vBSEO.

Rc2 is available in the downloads area for pre-release.

The problem that we are facing is that 4.0.1 changed stuff around in the CMS and it looks like 4.0.2 is slated to do the same.

As an afterware company, we are tied to following the development and changes of the main product company.

Further, we will not just put the words GOLD on our product without it truely being gold. There's still 1000+ confirmed bugs in vb4 gold.

Hello guys, vBSEO 3.5 RC2 *pre-release* has been made available via the downloads area and it's pretty darn solid. Still, not to our standards of what an RC product should be, simply because #1 we still don't have a full set of consistent presets developed for the new CMS, and #2, there were changes incorporated to 4.0.1, specifically in regards to the way index.php works with VB_RELATIVE_PATH, that create canonicalization issues which we want to absolutely address in the most elegant fashion possible. It IS working now, just not in as *usable* fashion as we would like. That's why RC2 is in *pre-release* state and not in *final* state atm.

I personally would upgrade any production instance to vBSEO 3.5 RC2 without concern.

Once RC2 goes final, we expect one additional (short) RC phase, and Gold will follow.

    Thanks Juan!

I think I'll wait until at least the final RC2 phase.

are you sure they are considering it a bug?

i had to install a plugin to put in extra css without tempering with the original css files shipped with vb4.

Thanks Juan. This kind of openness is exactly what vBulletin management is lacking. I can't wait to use the vBSuite with vBSEO, my plans to reform our communities are running late because of vB.

I have to agree with you that it is extremely doubtful they consider such things "bugs". I was reporting stuff like that in the beginning but was told that was simply their choice in style and we could override it with our own css if we wanted. So I have.

Im itching to go with VB4, but until VBSEO and the sitemap are up to scratch, like a lot of people, Im holding back.

Going by the sheer amount of bugs VB are fixing on each release, it looks like a bit of a wait.

Thanks Juan. This makes me a little more comfortable moving to vB4/vBSEO 3.5 RC2.

I'm planning on waiting for vB 4.0.2. When that releases, will it be compatible with vBSEO 3.5 RC2 or will you guys have a release forthcoming after vB4.0.2?

We don't anticipate 4.0.2 to change any URL structures. It's hard to say without seeing what they actually fix/alter in it at this time, but odds are rc2 should work as it does on 4.0.1.
