    vBSEO 3.5 Beta 2 Released

    Attention all vBSEO Customers,

    Following the release of vBulletin 4 Release Candidate 4, I'm happy to announce that vBSEO 3.5 is now on Beta 2 and we are making it available to all licensed users for testing. You may download vBSEO 3.5 Beta 2 now from the downloads area.

    The new vBSEO Control Panel is here!
    As stated in the vBSEO 3.5 Beta 1 release announcement, Beta 2 would be the first build to feature the updated Control Panel. Today we are happy to confirm that this is a reality!

    New file structure in vBSEO Beta 2
    Instructions for installing and upgrading to vBSEO 3.5 Beta 2 have been updated and are included in the readme.html file in the download package, in the /docs folder.

    vBSEO 3.5 Beta 2 introduces a different file system structure which requires manual deletion of files located in the deprecated location. FTP into your site and delete the following files to maintain the best security of your website as these are no longer needed with vBSEO 3.5:

    */vbseocpform.php
    */includes/config_vbseo.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_cache.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_createurl.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_crr.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_db.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_hook.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_linkback.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_misc.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_pre.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_seo.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_startup.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_url.php
    */includes/functions_vbseo_vb.php
    */includes/md5_sums_crawlability_vbseo.php
    */images/vbseo/[all files]
    */images/vbseo/

    Known issues:
    The following bugs have been fixed:
    Important Notices:
    • Make sure you save and XML backup before upgrading and import the file after or all settings will revert to default (settings are not automatically restored for now)
    • Only Use single quotes in Relevant Replacements, the ability to use double quotes will be added in an upcoming release.
    • Make sure that config.xml is chmod 666 to be able to set new password!

    Other notes:
    • Please report all bugs discovered via the vBSEO Plugin Bug Reporting Forum, NOT via this thread.
    • If you are receiving redirect loop within your forum URL's , please make sure you set Friendly URLs settings to Standard Urls
    Enjoy!

    During final QA tonight we have found a fault with the Custom Rewrite Rules and Custom Redirects modules. When saving CRRs, the script will comment these out and they will not have any effect on your site.

    We considered holding off the release until this bug was fixed but we thought it was a better choice to allow you to have access to the new control panel and to test the other features.

    I should stress even more with release, this is a BETA build and is intended for testing and bug reporting purposes in a development environment only and should not be used on a mission-critical live environment.

    This announcement will be updated once a Beta 2 build that fixes the known issues is made available.

    Yes, I did it. I know the risk, but I didn't wait when beta 1 was released so I need to upgrade. I'm not using CRR a lot, I use it just for pages that I don't include in my sitemap.

    Could you elaborate on this further? are you getting any error messages in the Sitemap Generator?

    Thanks for the translation Luis! I would have approved the linkback but it appears there is a (new) bug with refbacks as it has not yet been registered and I made sure I clicked the referral link from your site. We will investigate that.

    Yes, it just times out. Well, not a timeout, it just never finishes. This is the vbseo beta 2 with the beta 1 sitemap, using the run manually link.

    Well, I guess I have to take it back. Maybe I wasn't waiting long enough, there are now 4 reports from before, and I just ran another one that finished in about 2 minutes. Small site, 124 URL's, just a hobby. I take it down and put it back up probably more than it's worth!

    Okay, we figured why the linkback was not registered. There is a link to the referring page in post #5, and we have VBSEO_LINKBACK_IGNOREDUPE option enabled on vbseo.com that is telling NOT to register a linkback if there is already an existing *outgoing* link to the referring page.

    Unable to turn on Image Size Attributes. Won't save, defaults to Off each time after pasting in image sizes.
