This reminds me of when I went to change the oil in my SUV and the guy was trying to sell me to change the transmission fluid for like 20 minutes. At the end, I said, I'm going on a trip so yeah okay, you can change it. Then he said, oh, sorry it looks like we can't change it on your vehicle. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

This promotion is similar. You get an e-mail to get you all excited to purchase a product you've been waiting for a long time, but was waiting for a decent discount, and then when you go to fill in the discount code it says 'sorry, expired'. Even though you've clicked on the link within 3 hours of receiving the e-mail.

Great feedback from everyone. You all have expressed valid concerns. We'll definitely be modifying the new coupon system to better meet your needs and to be fair to all timezones.

The team had selected a an early time to send that would have been better for a wider range of timezones. Due to a delay in our release schedule for the day, the email ended up going out later in the day, including a little later than we would have preferred for USA customers.

Our promotions are done only about one time per year, and we do structure them as a surprise. It's intended to be an incentive for users who take advantage of our latest software versions, etc.

However, our customers are located all over the world, and the timezone does make it difficult for us on top of issues with email in general. We may experience such things as queuing delays, delivery delays to your various servers, false flagging in spam systems, etc.

The first thing I would like you all to express is that we will be modifying this to work better for everyone.

However, we also encourage you to use other types of channels that will help ensure that you receive our info in a timely basis. Examples include RSS, subscription to our announcements forum, and our Twitter channel:

If you use any of the above as a normal part of your Web experience, then it would be great if you could add us using those tools.

We'll still be using email, even with its limitations. However, we're going to take all great feedback we've received here and re-work the structure for the next time. This will definitely be improved.

1. You can't expect us to wait an entire year for another promotion.
2. you can't expect us to sit around a website waiting for a promotion like this.
3. If you want to make it a surprise try making it longer so EVERYONE has a chance to take advantage of the promotion.

I honestly feel ripped off and cheated, 3 hour sale in the middle of the night. I have a life too you know, and my life does not revolve around sitting in front of a computer waiting for your promotion.

Really you need to have another promotion and quickly because most of us that feel cheating will not wait another year for you to make this right. you need to make it right TODAY.

And dont give the excuse it is not fair to those who bought at 129.00 with the other coupon, that was their choice to do so. I was not given the choice, I was forced to pay it or leave the software behind. What about the people that bought the day before your promotion?

By not making this right you are really screwing yourself out of about $4300.00 from my account alone, yes that is right I have a total of 19 domains between my customers and myself that wanted to take advanatage of your promotion.

2. We don't expect you to stay at the website. RSS gets updated very quickly in your feeds management software (if you use it), Twitter is very fast with updates if you follow us, and announcement forum subscriptions will be sent to your email at the time the announcement is posted. These are just various methods of giving you the maximum opportunity to receive notice. We realize you'll only be visiting the site when you need support, etc.

3. The promotion will be running for 48 hours, so everyone does have an opportunity to take advantage. The early bird is designed for those who find it quickly only. As I said earlier, we're going to try to improve the system so that everyone has an improved chance of finding future notices quickly, but they will still need to do so fast or may miss the expiry. I'm starting up a new site and had vBSEO on the list of things to purchase. A friend of mine knew that and called me to let me know of the promotion. I missed the early bird by 2 min. We want the early bird special because we logged into the website within MINUTES of receiving the email and that option was no longer.
