I wonder how long is "not too long" for vbseo staff. The speed is terrible.

We were ready to release it but we found some more bugs. We are fixing them. The important point is when we implement new bug fixes we start QA process from scratch cause implemented fix can break something else.

That's nothing about deadlines. Can we hope to see it this month?
3.8.1 is scheduled at 27 january. It's good enougth to upgrade production site from 3.7 branch. I really need new social groups functionality.
We can't promise a deadline but we are doing our best to release asap with no bugs.

Having a stable and bug free product is very important but at same time when there are dozens of similar forums competing with mine and already upgraded to 3.8 and attracting users with flashy new features, it is very important to have VBSEO upgrade in place as quickly as possible.
In my personal view VBSEO team need to bring more attractions to VBSEO addon specially when vB is launching its own SEO friendly urls with vB 4 this summer. No need to say there is a high possibility of a decline in VBSEO sales as well as moving of existing customers to use vB functionality (if thats good enough and sufficient - I am looking forward to it and will test it just because of vBSEO overheads and dependability).
In such environment this is a very humble request to VBSEO team to follow market practice (vB for which VBSEO was created, give ETA of upto 6 months/ 1 year? in advance) and introduce ETA, to allow us (customer) to plan our upgrades accordingly!
Thanks,
Hello Basit ,
You can already upgrade to vBulletin 3.8 . vBSEO 3.2.0 works with vB 3.8.
Our main focus is always vBSEO and we are always working on it to improve more and more. I personally am glad to see vBulletin finally implementing some SEO at last but as from the blog entry James posted , it is very hard to accomplish for them what vBSEO does. We are in SEO business for a very long time and we dedicate our team to search and implement all possible new SEO techniques.
Supplyign ETA's is not as easy as you think. For example last year our plan was to release vBSEO 3.5 within the beginning of 2009 and we announceed that. However when vBulletin changed their mind and released two major versions 3.7 , 3.8 , all our plans have changed as we have to first work on these versions.
vBSEO 3.2.5 will include lots of new rewrite options , new features. We are just trying to release a bug free version and eliminate all possible duplicate url problem vBulletin causes.

How many changes are seen from 3.8 betas and RC versions to GOLD and your vbseo that it takes this much longer to release a 'bug free' version? I've seen 3.2.5 versions running on sites for months now...
Also the skin...how many bugs can possibly be in a skin thats been being worked on for ever? And thats been on here (and other sites) since the first Betas? I don't get it. I like bug free products but is it quality control or LAX quality control thats going on (meaning not getting enough feedback from people quick enough?)
Hello Mert,
I fully appreciate your point of view and this is much detailed (and better) answer to this question many already ask and few still insisting (including myself).
I still prefer to wait for another couple of weeks before upgrading to 2.8.x and I hope we will have VBSE 3.2.5 available so both upgrades took place at same time to save time (that is configuration / setup of new features of both vbSEO and VB).
Wising VBSEO team best of luck.
Bast is now sitting in corner of this forum and wiating for a new thread by staff announcing release of 3.2.5
Regards,
anyone having issues with the social group images not showing up?
when you go to social groups and users select a image for their groups to be shown..
any quick fix for this?
Also I noticed that if a POLL ID number is the same as a threads ID... when a user votes on that thread it takes them to a different thread with that same thread ID and not the thread they were just voting in.
Situation with lack of information is disappointing anyway. Even if it's difficult to announce a deadline, you could make a press-release with detailed description of news features.
That will help to plan 3.7 -> 3.8 upgrade for medium & large forum owners. May be, 3.2.0 feature are enougth for me... who knows... but I'd like to know exactly
By the way, I've used Invision Power Board for 5 years. One of reason to migrate to vBulletin - IPB development process was horrible. No deadlines for new versions, no deadlines even for bugfixes, and of couse, permanend delays![]()
It works ok, thanks.
I've applied your fix and I no longer receive a message telling me to download newpost.php when I try to do a quick reply. However, when I press the EDIT link, it now takes forever for the post editor to load. However, if I click on the QUOTE ink, the post editor loads normally. Seems like something is wrong with the fix you provided and the EDIT link.
I also wanted to mention that I still see that message about publishing a poll and being able to vote it in when I create or reply to a post. Why was that ever added?
In fact, wanted to say that anything that uses Ajax now takes a long time to load. But the errors are gone.
jeffr,
I believe that this is happening often with updates to vbulletin core files. Have you already tried deleting the browser cache (Firefox is the browser I found to be the most inclined to this problem)
Yes I've tried clearing my cache and that doesn't work. I've discovered that if I click on the EDIT button or QUICK REPLY button once, I have a large delay before the action takes place. However, if I DOUBLE CLICK the EDIT or QUICK REPLY buttons, the site loads as fast as it normally did without the applied patch.
