vBSEO 3.2.0 Release Candidate 7

Attention all vBSEO Customers,

I'm happy to announce that vBSEO 3.2.0 is now on Release Candidate 7 and we are making it available to all licensed users for testing. You may download vBSEO 3.2.0 RC7 now from the downloads area.

vBSEO 3.2.0 RC6 made available to Pre-Release team members *only*
As more users adopted RC5, several issues related to specific server setups were uncovered while troubleshooting bugs reported to our support team. Although said issues were dealt with on a per-case basis, we introduced significant code changes in vBSEO 3.2.0 RC6 that would minimize these compatibility problems in the future.

While the Release Candidate testing phase was opened to all licensed users at RC4, RC6 was made available to the pre-release team *only*, allowing us to test (and correct) potential issues arising from the new changes under a more controlled environment (less users).

.htaccess changes in vBSEO 3.2.0 RC7
As of 3.2.0 RC6 (RC7 now), we have incorporated updates to the vBSEO code that require changes to the default .htaccess file.

The new vBSEO build is backwards compatible with the old .htaccess rules, however we recommend all users to update to the latest .htaccess rules for optimal performance.

Important update for users running the vBSEO Sitemap
All users upgrading to RC7, please read this announcement.

Updates and Fixes
We will publish a complete list of over 50 updates and fixes in the official Gold release announcement.

Other language packs will be updated with vBSEO 3.2.0 GOLD vBSEO 3.2.0 RC7 DOES NOT include updated language packs for any of our currently supported languages. The following language packs will updated with vBSEO 3.2.0 Gold:
  • German (Du & Sie)
  • Turkish
  • Dutch
  • Russian
  • Arabic
Download Info
All Licensed users may download vBSEO 3.2.0 RC7 from their User Control Panel at the http://www.vbseo.com forums. Under the "Miscellaneous" section, find the link to "Download vBSEO". Or visit http://www.vbseo.com/downloads/

Installation & Upgrade
Find detailed installation and upgrade instructions within the readme.html file included in 'docs' folder of the installation package.

Note: Please report all bugs discovered via the appropriate forum, NOT via this thread.

Please Help

I am using vBSEO 3.2 RC5. How do I upgrade to RC6 as I do not see a thread for it and where to download it?

Also how to do I upgrade from RC6 to RC7 then? Is upgrading very easy (ie file overwrite)?

Please help me.

Hello Justice ,

You need to upgrade to vBSEO 3.2.0 Rc7 as vBSEO 3.2.0 RC6 is a prior version now which has only been released to Pre Release Team members. You can find detailed installation and upgrade instructions within the readme.html file included in 'docs' folder of the installation package.

So to confirm (ignore my stupidity), I do not need RC6 to upgrade from RC5 to RC7?

I can upgrade directly from RC5 to RC7 with no problems etc? No need for RC6 then?

Pardon my response again, but...
Why is this RC7 then, and why not just RC6? Surely this is the 6th RC...just updated?

I confused myself, because you confused me, and how you confused me is by the versions...because if RC6 wasn't really released, then it never existed, and if it never existed, how is there RC7?

Because vBSEO 3.2.0 RC6 has already been released before ONLY to PreRelease members and the bugs that PreRelease members found has been fixed. Thats why vBSEO 3.2.0 RC7 is a new version.

Okay I am now using vBSEO 3.2 RC7.
As for backing up the settings, I backed up ALL and imported ALL previous settings.

This is okay right? Nothing was updated with settings ie I didn't just revert it back to the previous version by importing all the settings from the old version did I?

The settings/options are the same. It's the code/php that has been changed.

you should be all set

With the new htaccess file I get no completely loaded pages. IE7 status line shows an error message. The old htaccess file works fine.

What's the problem?

Silly question, if we install this. Do we need to kill the contents of our site maps and re run them to cater for all the new urls that are generated?

Thanks Lee

You were speaking of an updated .htaccess-File. Is there a special clue with it? Will vBSEO guide me through updating the file?

Can somebody tell me?

Thanks guys. (for the release as well )

You can just regenerate sitemap, or it will be automatically regenerated with the next scheduled task.
