Ok I'm kind of miffed on this one.

Previously my "relevant replacements" were being used in templates as "<!--VBSEO_PHRASE_1-->" etc... Now all of the sudden they have changed in 2.4.0 to "<!--VBSEO_RR_1-->". So for the last few weeks my VERY IMPORTANT changes have disappeared and have not been seen by the search engines. What sucks is I didn't even need VBSEO for these replacements but I decided to use the built in feature anyways (I could easily do them manually).

So why the change, and why not a huge red blinking notice to people who used them in previous versions? I had mine set only to show to unregistered members, so as admin I was unaware of the change until I just checked the board as a guest today.

Damn. That will hurt my rankings for any threads crawled over the last few weeks.

I agree i was shocked that during the upgrade the appropriate replacement text, and previous contents where lost. Thankfully though they werent that intricate and didnt require too many templates changes. I am still not convinced that this current methodology of assigning multiple values to a singular RR is good practise.

What exacly does this "new" feature do?
Replace 'Forum Links' with direct links to target URLs?

    Thanks

To be honest, I have switched this feature back off - it was creating huge drag on displaying my pages (up from milliseconds to over a second per page). I have over 400,000 pages in my database adn run on a dedicated server. The difference in performance was too great for it to be worth my while running the "Adsense Section Targeting" feature. Anyone else noticed this?

Apart from that, this software is great and am monitoring my rankings daily. Google is now hitting me hard with bots again (especially as I changed domain at the same time) and am now back up to >7000 bots a day.
    Regards

    Jay

I didn't see any noticeable difference in load levels with while changing the targetting option.

I didn't see an increase in load with adsense targeting, but I disabled it anyways because it doesn't give me enough control of what it includes and what it doesn't. For example, it should always include areas that have Relevant Replacements -- but it doesn't as far as I can tell (I use mine in the navbar). Also, when I tested it with the "Google Adsense Preview Tool" turning it on and off, I saw virtually no difference in the ads selected (though I'm not 100% sure that the google tool takes the tags into account -- though it SHOULD).

To be honest, I'm not sure how well google deals with these tags.. Because some code blocks tell adsense not to include them, some tell google to include them, and then what happens with all the other sections?

This statement gave us a couple of good ideas for enhancing the Adsense Targeting feature...

All Relevant Replacements will now be enclosed under adsense target sections as well as 'lastelement of navbar' (variable used for displaying the thread's title) - - As an example, the following elements within this page would have adsense target sections automatically added (if activated):

As far as having more control over each element of the Adsense Targeting feature... great idea!! However, we have decided to include those settings in the next generation of vBSEO (2.5.x) which will feature a completely revamped admin interface (as the current interface is becoming overly complex).

The new interface will enable us to add a bunch of features which we've been holding back due to restrictions regarding the *single page* interface .

    Unhappy

What is the ETA for version 2.4.1? Bad links in the archive with vBulletin 3.5.4 is a huge problem for me. Is there any temporary fix possible?

Yes, the temporary fix was sent via PM to all vBSEO owners. You can find it here: Archive URLs not SEO'd, nofollow tags added

Alternatively, you can request a 2.4.5 pre-release via the ticket system.

    Go to http://www.yoursite.com/admincp/index.php?do=phpinfo

    FIND:
    with Zend Optimizer
If the latest Zend Optimizer version (v.3.0.0) is installed, the complete line should read something like:
with Zend Optimizer v3.0.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2006, by Zend Technologies

What is the latest release available? I am still showing 2.4.0 in my download list. That has been around forever, and 2.4.5 is supposed to be available very soon????

    where is 2.4.4?
