Re: vBSEO 2.2.0 Released - Google/Yahoo Sitemap Compatible

So what other locations would they be? Adding them again to the title, metatag etc.. will only bring the occurence of keywords too high, which could trigger google as being spam. Entering them into the content would perhaps make the content look strange, especially is a certain thread is off the topic of your forum.

Somehow still not all that convinced with the RR feature.

Re: vBSEO 2.2.0 Released - Google/Yahoo Sitemap Compatible

I just upgraded.. seems to be working fine except for one thing... my archives url is no longer being rewritten to /sitemap/ when I mouseover the link. Here is my footer code:

PHP Code:
<if condition="$vboptions['archiveenabled']"><a href="$vbpoptions[bbdir]/archive/index.php">$vbphrase[archive]</a> -</if>
I do have rewrite archive root enabled.

I dont think that the$vbpoptions[bbdir]/archive/ area is correct, it should be vboptions right?

Re: vBSEO 2.2.0 Released - Google/Yahoo Sitemap Compatible

Michael that is because I have vBportal installed. The variables produce the same result.

I figured it out though just now..

It only works if your link is 'archive/index.php' - no foward slash before the word 'archive.'

I think this is due to the rewrite rule in .htaccess:

PHP Code:
RewriteRule ^(archive/.*)$ vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L
Which does not begin with the slash.

Should I change the .htaccess or add a rewrite to Custom Rewrite Rules in the vbseo admin interface?

Your best off adding this to the Custom Rewrite Rules, makes the upgrade process to newer versions that much simpliar.

I am curious, why include member profile pages at all? I don't see the merit here...

Forums are all about members

I personally like being able to search for my t2dman, and see the forums that I have participated in.

Forums are about members after all!

If a site has google search enabled, people are often searching for members.

Re: vBSEO 2.2.0 Released - Google/Yahoo Sitemap Compatible

I can see that point T2Dman. I guess I am worried about diluting my site in Google's eyes.

What is "Diluting"

Newspapers can get pages ranked for every topic possible.

I have pages ranking for seo, restaurants, auckland florists and many other topics.

What is dilution??? I can see no evidence that such a thing exists.

With vbseo and proper onpage seo, you are enhancing the seo of your forums substantially to a level that few forums have ever been at. If there is such a thing as "dilution", then it is such a small part of the equation compared to getting everything else right.

Relevancy is far more a concern, and my h1 and firstwords concepts seek to address that issue so that pages are in fact relevant for the search terms that they are trying to rank for.

Then links are very important, and the Link Vault seeks to address that.

You have to get everything right in order to rank well, and I dont think that dilution is a very big part if any of the equation.
