    vBSEO 2.0 RC8 Released

    Hello everyone,

As you are probably aware, vBSEO's official release has been delayed until further notice. After several bugs were discovered in RC7, we decided to transition to RC8 prior to release.

/* Note: We typically upload interim or pre-release versions of each RC so that fixes to specific bugs are available immediately. However, our release announcements are not issued until the RC is finalized and uploaded. Therefore, unless an official release announcement is issued, the RC should be considered to be an interim release. This is the official announcement for Release Candidate 8, currently available in your download area. */

Here is a summary of updates included in vBSEO 2.0 RC8:

    (1) Added start (^) and end ($) regex symbols to the 'Custom Rewrite Rules' feature to correct issues with rewrite rules matching substrings of forum URLs that should not be affected.
    (2) Fixed an issue with the XML backup system related to restoring custom rewrite rules.
    (3) Fixed an issue with the XML backup system related to the image attributes array.
    (4) Acronym Expansion options now separated in order to function on (a) URLs and/or (b) page content, to achieve greater flexibility for the feature.
    (5) Fixed an issue with non-written announcement URLs that were creating php error messages.
    (6) Fixed an issue, which in specific circumstances, could cause archive URLs to not be re-written.
    (7) Corrected an issue with RSS2 feeds.
    (8) Fixed a bug with custom rewrite rules that was allowing 301 redirect loops to occur under certain circumstances.
    (9) Added the ability to include folder names for the 'Image Size Attributes' feature.
    (10) Fixed an issue with rewriting in the root directory.
    (11) Modified the rewrite engine to prevent conflicts between thread and forum CRU formats.
    (12) Fixed error that occurred with rewritten URLs when the 'Include Hostname' option was disabled.
    (13) Fixedan issue with old archive URL 301 redirects to vBSEO-enabled archive URLs.

btw - the new image size attribute feature can be seen on the sample interface here: http://www.crawlability.com/vbseo/sa...hp#other_image

It does help a lot with page rendering speed, especially on slower connections... try it!

I wanted to point out that with enough work, the image attributes can actually be used with multiple styles. Since it can recognize folders, it really makes it useful.

From my own experience, it is taking a lot of work to get the image sizing down. But it's worth it, I think.
