Exclamation Signature Rules Updated - Please Review Yours for Compliance

    Attention all customers:

In an effort to better organize our threads, and to prevent excessive signatures from interrupting the flow of conversation, effective immediately, we have updated our signature rules.
    • The new rules apply to vBSEO customers and our Pre-Release team only.
    • Non-Customers are not permitted to display their signatures.
    • Staff members use a standard signature format and are therefore not impacted by the change.
    Customer Signature Rules:
    • Limit signature to 1 line only
    • All formatting code disabled
    • URL bbCode permitted to allow linking
    • Total characters on the line must not exceed 60 characters (Character Count Tool)
The above should allow you to add 1 or more links comfortably, without overwhelming the thread.

Note: There is also a limitation on the amount of non-text bbCode that can be used. Each link must use "anchor text" with one or more readable characters, of at least 5 characters in length. In other words, you must use descriptive link text.

    Pre-Release Signature Rules:

Our Pre-Release team will follow the same guidelines as the above, with the exception that they will be permitted 2 lines, and a maximum of 120 characters in total length.

    Please Update Your Signature

Please update your signature ASAP. The vBSEO Total Support Team will begin editing signatures to ensure compliance, but we want to give you the opportunity to format your signature as you would like, within the structure we have outlined.

Thank-you for your cooperation & for helping us improve the flow of communication/readability for all users at our forum.

Staff reserves the right to review and edit all user signatures at their discretion.

Your signature is a good example of a compliant signature under the current rules.

As a Pre-Release team member you could have used 2 lines, as long as you did not exceed the character limits.

Most of our staff do not have any external links in our signature at all.

However, your signature is 152 characters long, that is past our 60 limit.

However, I do not see anything wrong with your signature right now.
So your agreeing the rules in state not are pointless? since my curernt sig breaks everyone of them afaik...

    1. Your signature cannot be longer than 60 characters excluding BB code markup.
    2. Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened. You may only have up to 1 line(s). Long text may have been implicitly wrapped, causing it to be counted as multiple lines.
    3. BB code color is not allowed.
    4. BB code b is not allowed.
    5. BB code size is not allowed.
So maybe you can tweek the settings abit more?? to allow neat and tidy signatures.. an imo, my 1 link is better then some peoples sigs full of links.. if your going to limit something, limit the amount of link's people are allow... simple no?

I went back and edited my previous post, as I forgot about the character limit.

At this you will need to change your signature.

However, I will flag this thread to have someone look into the signature rules.

    Hi Martyn,

I removed the text of your signature, leaving only the link. Please feel free to add back some accompanying text up to the character limit. Here is a tool that can be used to quickly count the signatures:

    Character Counter

Tip: For the anchor text of your link, you should consider separating the keywords instead of using your domain. That will result in more valuable anchor text for you.

Often you will find that limitations on characters permitted turns out to be helpful to you. Writing a short, concise, but appealing, text description is likely to capture more attention and clicks than a longer one.

Most of us, myself included, have a tendency to go with more details/longer titles as we attempt to create a very accurate description, or get keyword coverage.

AdWords is a great example of a system is great at encouraging people to create really great copy, with significantly limited character count.

We fix signatures occasionally, but most users do a good job at staying within the limitations we've set, allowing them to establish a link, while not overwhelming the post with excessive text.

Staff signatures contain more detail as we use these signatures to direct the attention of everyone to new and important resources on the site.

Thank-you for your feedback. I hope that you set up a new signature, with some great anchor text, and compelling text, while still staying within the limitations.

    I agree

My sig was within guidlines, I think?
I dont think that I was notified. just deleted?

I must have been wrong to think that vbseo was here to support members who have paid for its product.

I must say that you do have great support and your product has worked
