The "Likes Tree" REDUX

When we first introduced the Likes Tree concept a few weeks ago, it was a vision, a dream... something that seemed cool, and perhaps useful for those seeking to browse threads more efficiently.

The title of the original thread was: The "Likes Tree", finding a forum's most useful content will change forever.... and, although I do agree this title is accurate today, I was in for a surprise to the feature's TRUE *usefulness*.

In a nutshell, I believe this feature will REDEFINE the way people interact with forums. It has done that for me, and I'm happy to announce that as of right now, all vBSEO.com users will be able to experience it for themselves!

While conducting our initial tests (admins have had the feature enabled for a few days now) we quickly realized the underlying data was SO powerful, that it would be a waste not to put it to work in areas other than enabling the discovery of a thread's most meaningful content. That is the long way of saying that some really powerful stuff is coming from vBSEO, and the "Likes Tree" is *only* the first of those features. SEO is at the core of these enhancements, and that's why this feature is 100% relevant to vBSEO.

The *first embodiment* of the "Likes Tree" now includes filters that enable users to:

1. Find a thread's "Top" liked posts in chronological order
2. Find "All" liked posts in a thread, by author, i.e. the "Likes Distribution" of a thread
3. Find the distribution of likes within "This Page" (a singe page of a thread)

The final implementation is quite different to the original iteration, due to both, technical limitations and performance considerations, as well as a number of *extra values* that became obvious to us during the initial testing phase.

It is after Posts, not "Likes"? Can it be sorted after "Likes"?

Ah ok, i misunderstood. I checked the other Thread with more Posts, now it makes sense with the Top 10. Thank you.

Can we move the code "Like Free (vbseo-likes-count)" to anywhere in page ?

I loved this feature from the beginning!

but what I love more is to see that you guys are actually grown from just a SEO plugin to like an extensions of what vB should have been. For me vB doesn't exist anymore without vbSEO!

It is a vBSEO feature.

This is great - I'm really liking what you guys are doing with this.

Here are some features that are on my wish list...

1. A dislike feature (not unlike, but in contrast to 'like')
2. Back-end reporting, like a report to view the number of likes by users from date x to date y? (I've used a similar feature to report for contests in the past)
3. A feature to highlight the 'most liked' thread? example: couldn't figure out my depth of field assignment
4. Display number of likes received in postbit
5. Converter from Helpful Answers
6. A summary page to view the most liked Threads by forum
7. Display sum of likes on threadbit

Also, I don't see the point in displaying the sum of all the likes in the tree. I realize it's taking a queue from facebook, but the number doesn't really mean anything outside the thread.

Too bad for me that I've been developing this myself for my own forum, oh well, great job vBSEO!

http://www.vbseo.com/forums/ has a recent likes box. not sure if they provide an option to have a most liked thread too.
