That is an incorrect interpretation.

It takes 18 months (or as specified) before the DETAILS of the application are made public.

That a patent application has been filed is a matter of public record. How else could one dispute it before it was accepted?

I think it's safe to say that the early nay-sayers have been proved wrong. And that's not a bad thing. Juan and company have really done something great for the vb community, and I think they will make some money providing a similar service to many other aread of the web.

Great work, and goodluck!

Doesn't it take like two years for the patent to be fully filed?

I just checked both the US trademark and patent offices for current and pending applications and didn't find anything.

I did searches for

vbseo
vbseo.com
Crawlability Inc
Crawlability

and zero results were returned. The press release didn't mention any application number, and they always assign a number to every pending application. Even applications that are later denied are assigned a number.

This announcement is just a bunch of made up nonsense probably designed to scare off any possible code or idea stealer's. I doubt anyone will ever fess up the truth but this is the Internet where lies, half-truths and nonsense run wild.

Actualy I believe they are trying to patent certain segments of code that are relevent to SEO and not vBSEO as a product. Thus this means it can be held by anyone or group of individuals thus why your searches came back nil.
