What's up with my 404s?

For some reason, instead of receiving a '404 Not Found' error when going to a non-existent page on my site, I receive a 'Content Encoding Error' ( FireFox ). This prevents me from being able to create a custom 404 page. What could be causing this?

Do you or your host already have a custom 404 page in place?

Have you tried already making your 404 page and instructing your site to use it?

Yes I tried making a custom 404 page according to a member's article here but that didn't fix the problem. The site is on a dedicated server so there's nothing I didn't do in it.

This is my first dedicated server so some things may be wrong. I don't use .htaccess but here are my php.ini and httpd.conf files. I hope you can see the problem through them .

File Type: zip httpd.conf.zip (12.4 KB, 2 views)

It appears that 404.php is actually causing the 'Content Encoding Error' ( FireFox ) since when I change the setting in vBSEO to 'Send 404 HTTP code', I get the normal 'Page Not Found' text on 404 pages.

EDIT: Never mind, I fixed it.
